We stayed here for a dinner and dance in April 2013 and I can't say we were at all impressed with anything other than the service. The staff were absolutely lovely, very friendly and helpful but the rooms were in desperate need of refurbishment, especially the bathroom, which was disgusting. The food was completely average, both in the evening and especially the breakfast.
Overall I would not recommend a stay here ... until there has been a refurbishment!

We stayed here for one night before our flight from T5. This hotel cannot be faulted for it's location - it took less than 10 minutes to get from the hotel to the terminal.

The hotel itself has a welcoming reception, but the rooms don't really live up to this standard. The room we had was very small and a bit shabby. There was also a lack of plug sockets meaning we had to choose which of our electricals to charge before our trip.

Also didn't find the shower to be very good - not very powerful and a fixed shower head.

I probably would stay here again just for the location alone - although will be checking out the premier inn across the road to see if this offers better rooms.

We had an amazing stay at your hotel and check in, room and attitude of the staff was just amazing. It is a shame we could not stay for breakfast as that looked very good. The quality of the room and staff are just second to none. We will coming back very soon. Special thanks for Jatin for making our stay worthwhile !

Room Tip: Room on the ground floor is always good

We stayed here in December 2012 the night before flying abroad. We paid a little more for this hotel thinking it might be a little nicer than your standard Premier Inns and Travelodges... we probably should have saved our money to be honest! The room was spacious and comfortable but a little run down and when we arrived the heating had been turned up so high that the room really was quite uncomfortably warm. We were able to order room service at 10:30pm, which was appreciated, though the staff did give us the impression that this was quite a hassle... and then our meals were not great. Service in general was not bad, but not particularly good either. Airport shuttle buses were really helpful but delayed (not the hotel's fault, but helpful for other travellers to know - allow plenty of time for the buses just in case!). We probably would choose somewhere else next time.

As I was arriving at T1 with a meeting next day nearby I booked an overnight at the Thistle. Getting there was easy thanks to tips on Tripadvisor about catching the free bus, 423, from the bus station at T5, (stand 6-7 I think it was and there's a free train link between terminals). The journey is only about 5 minutes and the hotel is easy to see, opposite the Premier Inn, where the bus stops. If you pass the petrol station you've missed your stop!
Check in was efficient and I was allocated a small room on the ground floor overlooking the car park, which was easy to find, though I do agree directions within the hotel are very confusing. Dinner in the restaurant, which appears to be under refurbishment .... More on that in a minute, was average, but far excelled breakfast which was appalling. When I arrived for breakfast just before 9 there was the noise of a pneumatic drill on the other side of a large plastic sheet, which presumably someone thought would also stop noise travelling! The noise was intermittent but so loud it was impossible to ignore and enjoy breakfast, but as the cold buffet selection looked like a plague of locusts had been through it with not even any bread for the toaster and the ordered cooked breakfast took ages, I wasn't in any mood to have enjoyed anything. Why management thought working during breakfast service was acceptable I don't know. As I was in a rush I didn't have a chance to air my views at checkout. I would not stay here again, as the only redeeming feature was the view of the planes landing at T5!

Room Tip: Beware costs of taxis ordered by the hotel, the fare appeared to be at a premium.

We stayed at this hotel for one night before our flight the next day. We also parked our car here for a week. We booked two double rooms, as there were four of us. Our rooms must have been refurbished, judging by other reviews I have read. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom clean and well appointed. We had tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. There was a timetable for the Hoppa buses available and we were asked if we needed a wake up call too. We thought it was very good value for money. The car parking was fine with cctv throughout all the car park. We would stay here again

Thistle hotel LHR-Travel to LHR T1
Stayed here as part of a Holiday extras park and fly package. I got this free due to their price guarantee, otherwise I probably would not have stayed here as we were due to leave from T1.

Hotel is nearer T5 than LHR T1-3 and is off a small part of Bath road. Room was tiny but adequate for a one night stay arriving late and leaving early.

The LCD TV and free Wifi helped to lift the tired decor and miniscule bed and bathroom. Long dated corridors and no lift.
Parking was way behind the hotel and could meant a long walk through the back door and then back to the room.

Staff were helpful and polite. Didn't eat here as arrived late and left early.

The hotel is served by the expensive Hoppa bus to all terminals, however there is a bus stop yards from the hotel from which you can catch the free 423 to T5 bus terminal. From there you can get the free tube (need Oystercard) or free Heathrow Express to the other terminals if needed.
We did this very early 05:45 IIRC and the bus was almost full at the Thistle stop. It did not pick up at the next stop, so beware this may happen if you get the shift workers going to T5.
Took about 20 minutes to get to T1 using this method.

It is possible to get direct to T1-3 by catching the 75 or 76 along Bath road but the bus stop is further than I care to walk with a suitcase (and wife!) and involves crossing the busy Bath road
One can also catch 423 towards LHR from the bus stop outside the Thistle but then you need to get off at either the LHR Police station stop and then wait for the U3 or get off at the next stop (Sipson road) bus stop, cross the road and catch another free bus (140, 111, 285,555) back to to T1-3. Too much hassle IMHO.

On returning from T1 we caught the 75 from the LHR bus depot (full to the brim with shift workers at 18:00) and got off at the bus stop opposite the Sheraton. This was free and it was a short walk to the Thistle down a side alley.

Overall not perfect for T1 but as it was free worth the slight hassle and we saved £18.00 compared to the expensive Hoppa.

At the right price this hotel is OK for a one night pre early flight from T5 with parking.
