“One Night stop over”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

The Hotel has a great location close to Heathrow and is easy accessed with Taxi or Hotel Hoppa Bus. The Checkin was incredibly slow, the Lady did however apologise for the wait.

I requested a room on higher floor was given ground, I also requested one facing runway and was allocated one facing opposite.

The room was however clean and well furnished along with Tea/Coffee ect and a complimentary bottle of water.

Its not as good value for money as in previous stays, only a continental breakfast came with the rate and additional cost were incurred if you wanted a cooked breakfast.

The overall stay was pleasant enough just a pity customer requests are not honoured when the online booking clearly indicates customer requests.

Room Tip: Confirm room allocation if possible before you get to Hotel.

Dear Highlander 17,

Thank you for your friendly feedback. Good to read you took advantage of the great value for money we offer and found the situation of the Sheraton Heathrow just a short commute from Terminal 5 and within easy reach from the other Terminals. We have discussed your request regarding a front facing room with our team and will make sure, our front office associates will make the right allocation next time you stay with us.

Warm regards,
Antoni

Short Hoppa Bus or Taxi ride from Heathrow airport - so expect to hear aircrafts taking off and landing. Initially the look and feel of the place tracks well with the Sheraton/SPG branding. The lobby is nice - large, lots of space; colors and contemporary styling are familar and consistent with the brand. The beds are super. However, the hallway carpets are tired; hallway doors and guest doors showing extensive signs of wear - they are nicked and beat up. The concierge is fantastic, helpful, friendly, juggling 2 or 3 guests at once. Restaurant spacious; not overly extensive menu. Sticky toffee dessert is worth a try; beet salad is small but great. Restaurant staff fairly well attentive even late at night. For a one night stay, certainly I would stay again.

There may be other Hotels closer to Terminal 5 but I doubt that they have so much to offer as this one does. It correctly lives up to its star rating and is nicely appointed without feeling old and outdated like other airport hotels. The buffet was great value at GBP20 pp and had a large selection of cold starters and hot mains. The wine list was good but being a buffet we sometimes had to remind the staff of our drinks order. We were relaxing before a long haul filght and coming form Aus it wasnt a big deal for us but we could see some guests getting a bit frazzled at the delays. Re the lengthy check in process and queues - whilst we did face a lengthy queue when we arrived - al desks were manned and so within 5 or so minutes we were seen and had a lovely welcome from the receptionist - so all good from us.

Stayed at the Sheraton for just 10 hours in the day between flights. Booked last minute with no problems at all, and the hotel was very accommodating with our 9am check in request. Seems efficiently run, (as you'd hope with an airport hotel especially) with frequent airport shuttle service. Our room was of a good size, clean and well maintained (minus a damp patch on the ceiling). Considering the close proximity to Heathrow, we were not disturbed by either the road or air traffic noise, and managed a few hours of well needed sleep. Overall, would recommend to others. The one (rather major) negative, was the letter through the front door a week later demanding the payment of a ONE HUNDRED pound parking fine. After the initial shock (signage at the hotel regarding parking rates is poor, and the barrier at the entrance allows entry without payment/a ticket, and gives no further instructions), I searched the Sheraton website for 10 minutes, and under hidden under FAQ's, it advises of a charge of £12.50/day for parking, and to inform reception of your car (still expensive, but expected nonetheless, and would have been happy to pay). RECEPTION DO NOT OFFER THIS INFORMATION TO YOU - a costly issue, if you haven't previously searched the website. Shame to have spoilt what was otherwise a good experience.

Every year we stay at a Heathrow hotel the night before we fly in the morning the next day long haul.
This is for 2 reasons. Firstly to miss the joys and panics the M25 can throw at you and secondly to start the day refreshed after a good nights sleep , ready for the long journey ahead.
The hotel is just like most of the others in as much once inside you would have trouble identifying which hotel you were in , which is not a bad thing, its just the way it is.
However , unless you are used to sleeping without pillows do not stay here.
This may seem such a trivial thing, but the experience of constant waking trying to get comfy and feeling shattered before the day has begun was awful.
I ususally sleep on 1 pillow but the pillows provided had the amaizing properties of completely flatening like a deflated balloon.
Get more pillows you say, we did and they made no difference at all. Horrible.
We did a package combining a couple of weeks parking with an overnight stay at the beginning but where they make you park is round the back, on a grassy inclinded bank under trees that emit super glue, so after a 2 week period getting the stuff off the car was much fun indeed.
We paid about £180 for the experience. Previously I have not paid this much for far better.
I dont want to sound like a moaner but the sleep experience bought back memories of the sleep I used to get when the kids were babies.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

Wow... where to begin here?

I've never experienced such a ridiculously long check in process, with no sense of urgency from the staff whatsoever.

There were 12 people waiting to check in, and one of the receptionists actually thought that restocking their "Starwood Preferred Guest" leaflets, which would be fine if it didn't take 10 minutes.

The receptionist I eventually dealt with to check in my boss, and then myself, completely ignored my check in, and just asked me "are you gay together".... um....... WHAT?!??

I've never experienced such a rude, useless and aggressive concierge. "Kenny" was a serious piece of work, and is the fundamental reason I will never stay here again...

Last time I stayed here, there were signs everywhere stating that there was a tremendous refurbishment going on, the signs have now gone and the only change I'm aware of is the TV in the room.

This hotel truly rapes the power of the Sheraton brand, where the standards of their hotels in Europe are exceptionally high.

But lets focus on the positives....... well..... it's um..... well I guess you got me there...

We stayed here in September for 1 night prior to boarding a flight at Terminal 5. It's very close to the airport so only left a few minutes drive in the morning. We didn't eat here but used the bar. It has a number of large screen TVs playing endless sport which is ok if you're interested but you can have too much sport. The lounge area around the corner was very comfortable and we sat there to get away from the TVs. The room was standard stuff with a reasonably good shower but we found the bed too soft and woke up with a few aches and pains. The checkout procedure is good as they pre-swipe your credit card and you just drop your room card into a box. Charges for the car park are also charged to your card using a number plate registration system. We had our evening meal at the White Horse pub nearby. If you ask the front desk they will phone the pub and they come and collect you and bring you back. You can walk but it takes about 10-15 minutes. The food at the White Horse was good and they have a large outdoor seating area outside which is good for better weather. If you go there in the winter you would be well advised to get there early as there aren't many inside tables.
