“Nice hotel, good reception staff.”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

The hotel it's self is quite nice and looked lovely decked out for Christmas and the reception staff were exceptionally helpful under difficult circumstances. On the day I stayed here, the room access system had crashed - for the whole of Holiday Inn - and the only swipe cards that worked were the staff's master keys and the receptionists had to excort guests to their rooms every time they wanted to get in but they never complained once and were very up-beat the whole time and nothing seemed too much trouble. It is a shame then that the hotel was let down by the restaurant and bar staff. I arrived for a meeting at lunch time and wanted to order a pot of tea but the bar staff were nowhere to be found, the receptionist eventually went and got them from the kitchen (where she said they hang around and chat) to serve me. The service in the restaurant was also very slow and dinner took over two hours in total, other guests got fed up of waiting to be served and went looking for the staff to take their orders. When I came down for breakfast there was the same 'careless' approach, nobody asked for my room number (i could have just waled in off the street), nor did they ask if I had beent there before or tell me where things were for breakfast, I was just left to my own devices. All that said, the room was nice and I did get my upgrade from my Platinum card to an executive room.

Your compliments with regards to reception staff being exceptionally helpful under trying circumstances is noted & has been passed on.

I’m sorry your dining experience during dinner/bar & breakfast was a let down on staff professionalism and though it is our goal to provide consistent & superior service, we clearly did not deliver as was expected by Holiday Inn standards.

Our food & beverage experience is one of our top priorities as areas of improvement.

I hope that this dissatisfaction does not deter you from using Holiday Inn in the future.

Yours sincerely

Came back to this hotel after arriving on a later evening flight to Heathrow.

Was checked in by a very friendly and efficient girl - she was just training but did really well. WAs recognised as a Priority Club member and given an upgraded room - thank you.

Room was well maintained, clean and warm.

Went to the bar and had a few drinks. Ambiance was nice and the bar was not too busy on the Friday night. Had dinner in the restaurant - they were doing a special deal - 2 courses and 2 drinks for £20. The quality of the food was great. Last time I stayed here I just ate in the bar but was very impressed with the restaurant. Again, staff were friendly.

Got a great nights sleep. Check out in the morning was quick and the member of staff on the desk was helpful and offered to book me a taxi.

This hotel seems to tick all the boxes - the friendly staff are definitely its best attribute. I would have no hesitation of coming back.

Room Tip: All rooms fine - double, if not triple glazing on the windows so no noise from the nearby runway.

The Holiday Inn Ariel, Heathrow is good for a transit stopover - it is very close and has the basics for such a stopover.
The hotel has smaller rooms that other Holiday Inns' but equipped with wifi and the rest required for a business traveller. The breakfast spread is good and value for money. The staff is polite and helpful. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner too.
The thermostat did not work proper and there was a note saying this was controlled centrally. So what was the thermostat in the room for? :)
The hotel hoppa comes around every 30 mins and gets you quick to the Heathrow.
They could extend the late check out for priority guests instead of just two hours.

Room Tip: This is a circular building and you have rooms either facing outside or the inner side of the buildi...

The hotel is clean and tidy with very helpful staff, a mistake over booking was sorted without any fuss or trouble. WiFi internet is very expensive which I think is unacceptable and the shuttle to the airport is expensive when you can take the local bus for free. Other than that if you just need somewhere to sleep over night then I would say stay.

i travel to london alot for business and i always stay at the holiday inn on bath road sipson way, which i always find great. this time it was full so i chose the holiday inn ariel and was warned its not the same as others and thats pretty much right, i chose a single room and i remember my uni halls of residency was much much bigger. the hotel is in a doughnut shape with all the single rooms on the inside and doubles facing outwards, so the single rooms are sort of in a cone shape. bed was comfortable, there were holes in the duvet cover but it didnt effect me sleep wise so didnt bother complaining. one thing which really did get me besides the fact that it seems the oldest out of the heathrow holiday inns, lowest quality and the most expensive was the air con. it was june when i was there and it was fairly cool outside but i wanted to put the ac on as i lie to be cold and keeping the window open in a heathrow hotel is not the best with jets taking off every few minutes, but you cant fully adjust the the thermostat. the tempurature can only be adjusted according to the time of year or something similar so i decided to open the window to cool down the room and because i did this and the room got cool the heating then switched on which i couldnt switch off, not very well thought through.

any ways its an alright place just not as good as any other holiday inn i have ever stayed at and generally more expesnive than others as well, hotel staff though are very friendly and very helpful. food was nice as well but again expensive and small ish portions, better to walk 5 mins down the road to mcdonalds

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The rooms were a decent size (compared to other London hotels), very clean, and comfortable. What really surprised me was the ease with which one can get to/from the Airport and Central London. For the latter, a short ride on the Red Bus brings you to the Airport. From there, you can take the Underground or the Heathrow Express to Paddington. The breakfast was also very good. So if you're looking for an alternative to high-priced Central London hotels, the Holiday Inn is a very good choice, especially if you have the time to travel to/from the Airport to Central London.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for a room on the inner side of the hotel. The external side faces noisy Bath...

Very comfortable room, food in restaurant was pleasant, staff incredibly welcoming and polite, location in relation to Heathrow is great with a shuttle bus stopping at the hotel. We took advantage of their parking deal while away and everything went smoothly.
