“Decent Hotel Next to Heathrow”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

The hotel was just a couple of minutes from Heathrow Terminal. The free bus travel between terminal and hotel is definitely very convenient for travellers. The hotel was very well maintained. Rooms are tidy and could escape from the voice from the runway with a very energetic view seeing planes going up one by one. In short distance you can have restaurants and shops that could fulfill your needs and wishes.

I recently stayed at Marriott Heathrow airport as me and my family was going to watch roger waters in wembley stadium and I'm so glad we did its a beautiful hotel, our room was fantastic and very clean. Among all that what made our stay so special was the staff they were all so friendly and very helpful.. One man in particular Tino he was fantastic he made us feel so welcome and made sure we knew were everything was as this was our first time staying at Marriott Heathrow, he is a credit to the hotel and the company and we will definitely be returning in the future. Very impressed

It being our routine to stay at a hotel near an airport when we end a vacation and prepare to return home, we closed out our week in UK by staying at the Marriott Heathrow. As longstanding and loyal Marriott Rewards members, it was interesting to note the differences in staying at a typical American Marriott versus the one at Heathrow.

It was a dreary, drizzly late Friday afternoon when we attempted to return our car to the Hertz rental site, as well as find the Marriott. Our Garmin was useless, had no clue. After going too far east on the Northern Perimeter Road, we spied the Marriott, and finally identified a strategy to reach it on the parallel street. The friendly front desk staff informed us that despite our standard request for a king size bed with foam pillows, they could only provide a room with double beds. OK, no biggie. For some reason, despite noting my Marriott guest number was in their system, the front desk person asked me to handwrite my name and address on a slip of paper, I have NO idea what that was about. Then they had me spin a roulette wheel, and it came out on "yellow", which meant my wife and I were granted a free drink each at "Bubbles", the lobby bar, other possible prizes being such options as free desserts and discounts at the Ally's Grill. That was a greatly appreciated touch! Another front desk person devoted amazing effort to help us with the Hertz return directions. Our bags were brought to our room, and we got the car back to Hertz. We were too frazzled after the day's drive to figure out the Hoppa bus system at the Heathrow arrivals area, so we hired a taxi for the standard 12.00 plus tip to get us back to the Marriott, a six or seven minute ride. In the end, really did not cost much more than two on the Hoppa would have run!

The room on the third floor was a typical Marriott sized and shaped room, felt spacious. We would have liked to have been able to make the room just a touch cooler, but the lowest setting on the thermostatic rendered it adequate. There was pretty good lighting. The beds were seemingly on somewhat bouncy box springs, but the mattresses were quite comfortable. The room was completely quiet, no extraneous noises to be heard. There were ample UK as well as one US electrical outlets. The internet in the room was relatively pricey, as others have noted, 6.00 for an hour, 15.00 for twenty four hours, more for weekly use, covers up to six devices, though free in the lobby. With an the ethernet cable provided, the speed was good, WiFi can also be used in the room. Typical Americans, we wanted ice, but that required a request to the front desk, followed about fifteen or twenty minutes later by a full bucket delivered to our room.

The bathroom also was adequately sized, nice hot shower with good power. A couple bars of facial soap, and small cylindrical containers of bath gel and shampoo (plus body lotion) were provided. The towels were large and plush. Washcloths are always appreciated, considering they are such a rare commodity in UK and Europe.

We headed down to Ally's Grill, which had a nice menu including a fair number of items one would not find at a US Marriott. The bread was a humongous "popover" which was quite delicious. We did not want to come to London to eat a hambuger (15 pounds), so my wife opted for the calves liver, which she did enjoy, and I chose a crabmeat salad with a side order of a jacket potato, which met my needs. The servers were extremely pleasant, only glitch being that they failed to bring the second rum and Pepsi (no Coke, as they say) she had ordered, yet is appeared on the bill. The issue was brought to the attention of the server, and he offered to not only remove the charge, but provide a free drink gratis to bring back to our room. We appreciated the gesture, but were happy to just pay the corrected bill and call it a day. The other slight negative was that one of the servers had rather awful body odor, but he was in our vicinity only briefly. The dinner ended up at 45 pounds plus gratuity, so no bargain there!

Our wakeup call was right on time, and after calling downstairs, a cab was waiting to bring us back to Terminal 1. Although we evidently could have had a complimentary breakfast, serving beginning at 6 a.m., we decided to sleep a bit later, and eat at the airport.

So, all in all a very satisfactory stay, but wanted to provide this detailed report in case others following us here might benefit!

My husband and I opted to stay here the night before flying back to the U.S., following a great vacation to France and England. We opted for this hotel for convenience. It is on airport / hotel row, so it sees mostly business and returning vacationers , like us. Not ideal for those hoping to stroll the quaint ( or busy ) London streets for shopping or site seeing. None of that here, though if watching planes land and depart is interesting, you may have a room with a view of that.

The lobby is modern, with mesh art figures suspended from the ceiling decorating the area. They have a very nice Tuscan restaurant, as well as main dining room , and executive lounge ( and the lounge is open 7 days a week). We enjoyed a large breakfast buffet in the main dining area, though the executive lounge had a smaller, nice buffet option too.

Rooms are typical Marriott. Facility is well run, clean and friendly.

Stayed here before an an early flight. The hotel was within walking distance from dropping the car off at Avis. The concierge was EXTREMELY helpful in helping me figure out what to do in London with the few hours I had left that evening and how utilize the public transit to get there. It was really convenient that they hired a cab to get to the airport in the morning and billed it to the room. Their breakfast starts around 6 and wasn't busy. There was a GREAT selection and it was hot.
As an American, I really appreciated having a US outlet in my room :) They have an EU outlet as well.
There was a long line at check-in/out and the staff moved through the guests quickly. My bed was really comfortable and I slept great!

I travel to the UK quite a bit from the US and stay regularly at the LHR Marriott. It is a terrifically managed property and the service from the front desk to the restaurants, and housekeeping is always first rate, friendly and timely.
I usually avoid hotel restaurants but the Italian restaurant here at the LHR Marriott is first rate. The wait staff is attentive but not overbearing and they are a pleasure to interact with. Doriana, who served us tonight was exceptional. Her recommendations for both food and wine were right on target and she couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating.
Also, Sue Rides (sp?) as part of the customer service staff fulfilled my out of the ordinary requests and was a pleasure to interact with. I look forward to my next visit.
