“A good night's sleep”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

I stay here at least once a year when returning to Canada from Heathrow. Always a good price, comfortable room, and reasonable food. Only downside is slowness and sometimes sudden interruption of public internet service.

I've often used Ibis hotels in Europe as great value, budget places for stopovers. So I confidently booked this hotel as I had an early morning flight to catch. I arrived at 10:30pm and was told that I had a ground floor room "because that's all we have left". Doesn't make you feel like a valued customer really!! The room was fairly pokey and in need of updating and the noise from the neighbouring rooms and corridor was quite bad. Not as bad as the extractor fan in the bathroom though, which wouldn't turn off. Even with the bathroom door shut, I could still hear it all night. The room cost £90 and I checked out at 5:30am the following morning (and got charged £12 to park for 7 hours) so I don't class that as value for money (even at London prices). The Ibis hotels in Europe are always clean and reasonably cheap - they need to follow the same standard in the UK in my opinion.

Have stayed at this hotel several times in the past but missed the fact or perhaps it's a new fact that you can get to it for free from Heathrow using the "Heathrow Freeflow Free Fare Zone" for which Harlington Corner is the closest free stop some 100 yards or so from the hotel. This saves £8 a round trip and cancels the requirement to go on a guided tour around hotels picking up passengers on the Hoppa bus, time consuming. From Heathrow tube you head to the bus station and jump on the appropriate bus. A google of "Heathrow Freeflow Free Fare Zone" and "Harlington Corner" will reveal the bus numbers. In the morning, early one throught one would take the Hoppa service on the belief that the normal buses would not be running. The hotel information was wrong on the departure times, but seeing the buses running down the road often and the charge of £12 quoted for a taxi, took an early morning stroll down the road. It's actually quicker going back to Heathrow from the hotel rather than coming out due to the bus taking a tour around.

The hotel prices are not bad if booked in advance. Opted for the broadband / media deal although internet should be free like tap water in hotels. The media deal is a LAN based ethernet socket which you enable via the TV's remote, thus if you have a Smartphone / Tablet and don't take pocket router with you, you won't be making a connection.

The room was small but given one was off to Japan where hotel rooms can be small one wasn't fussed, just feeling that the holiday had started early as one tripped on luggage and reorganised the room to open bags. Not as bad as some Japanese hotels where shifting the furniture and stacking across as the door is the only way to layout one bags to open them. The small desk chair was lodged into the open cupboard to give more room.

Didn't eat in the hotel, Early morning flight and didn't have time. In the evening an internet search came up with a gem of local pubs which didn't rip off their customers for fancy prices and had positive reviews. Walked to the The Pheasant Restaurant and Inn for an evening meal. Pleasant atmosphere, good prices, food and drink.

First night of holiday felt saintly by being prudent with the local free Heathrow bus via Harlington Corner, eating out but with the luxury of in room broadband. Savings on the free transport and eating out would have easily covered the additional charge of the Ibis perceived luxury. Funny enough all Ibis Hotels in France offer free Wifi in the UK hotel management should be rationalised the savings of paying management to come up with pseudo reasons why they should charge and the extra wrinkles in package alternatives would clearly cover the costs and make us all happy. Till then we'll eat out and take the free bus and hotel management can waste their time on trying to hoodwink their customers that broadband should be a paid luxury. I don't think any one is hoodwinked by this and just makes the hotel chain look petty.

Excellent hotel on Bath Road across from Heathrow...and very convenient to Avis Car Rental. The hotel was very quiet despite the fact that it is across the street from the airport. We ate in the restaurant which had a nice variety of meals and the price was reasonable.

Swiss cancelled its last flight from LHR due to Zuerich airport closing times at night and they sent all their passengers to Ibis. The worst place you can spend a night, takes time to catch the bus to get there and the whole place is poorly designed with tight single beds, try to avoid carrying suitcases with you, you may have to log them up to your room and you may not be able to place them anywhere in your room.
The restaurant in the hotel is terrible, microwaved pre cooked chicken tikka with cold rice was the hit of the day, or rather night. The apple juice machine was out of juice and after pointing it out to the inexperienced person acting as a waitress nothing happened. The very worst hotel we ever had to spend a night in. Reflecting very poorly on Swiss which is competing with Ryan Air rather than more upmarket airlines in terms of cost cutting.

Room Tip: do not go to this place

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

This hotel is a very basic budget hotel but certainly ideal for flights from Heathrow. The room was a little dated and smal - which is surprising as the reception area is modern. No complaints about the cleanliness of the room, but due it's small size and dated and dull feel I would not wish to stay more than one night. The restaurant was good - quick service, and decent meals (the chicken curry was particularly well recieved!)
