I have stayed at The Metro several times in the past few months, not out of routine but because it is by far my favourite choice of place to stay and do highly recommend it to anyone. It is ideally situated in the centre of Southport less than a minutes walk from the mainstreet of shops, 5 minutes from the train station and a lovely 10 minute walk to the promenade.

The couple who own it, Lesley and Martin are lovely and make you feel extremely welcome and always approaching us for friendly conversations making the stay feel that extra bit special.

The outdoor terrace is perfectly sited as a 'sun trap' and we sat there casually drinking all afternoon with a nice calming water feature in the middle. The interior of the bar and restaurant is done to a high standard with lots of attention to detail and the staff are super friendly always willing to help with any queries or requests! Having eaten in both the restaurant and off the a la carte menu in the bar the food was delicious with a slight different touch on each plate from the chef and as the old saying goes "service with a smile". The bar in the evening has a nice atmosphere with what seems a few friendly regulars. Each time I've stayed has been a different room but all with immaculate en suites, large comfy beds, TV and as throughout the whole place, nice homely decor making the stay feel very at home. I already look forward to my next visit!!

Great little hotel with just about everything right. The food was brilliant (the chef made every plate look special) and the decor was superb. The staff were very friendly and I wish them every success in the future.

Room Tip: When eating, try to get a seat in the window, overlooking the front garden - it really looks nice at night.

Stayed at Metro last Saturday on a last minute trip to Southport. This hotel is gorgeous, has only been open since last May and you can tell It's owner Lesley's pride and joy. From the courtyard outside, complete with fountain and lovely seating area, to the bar and restaurant, we thought it was all beautifully put together. Although check in wasn't until 3pm they let us have the room early which was a plus. We had room 10, it was a nice size, and like the rest of the hotel really well decorated with a nice ensuite bathroom, plenty of storage space and flat screen tv.
A lot of locals use the bar and there's a good atmosphere, the staff were all really friendly and the service good. The restaurant is gorgeous too, we had the Valentine's special menu, three courses and a bottle of wine, coffee, chocs and a red rose for me, for £60. The food was delicious, again the service really good. They also serve bar snacks if you don't want a full meal. They serve continental breakfast which I really enjoyed, but my husband requested a bacon sandwich and full english is available if you want it.
The bar gets really lively on weekend nights, and we did hear the music for a while when we
went but it wasn't a problem and wouldn't stop us from staying again, in fact we've already booked another weekend, we enjoyed it so much.
Metro is very much a home from home, but it's been really well done all the way through, and is already expanding with more bedrooms and a possible function room on the way. Nothing is too much trouble for the owner and her staff, we loved it, we will be back!!!!

We stayed here for just one night in February. The hotel is lovely, very well presented and decorated throughout the restaurant and bar area. A very nice courtyard area, which being in February and very cold and raining we obviously didn't use, but will be lovely when the weather improves!! Room 8 was lovely, very spacious room, tastefully decorated with an attractive flower display and overlooking the courtyard. Our only critisms are that the shower room is a little on the small side and the actual cubicle very small - also the 'king' size bed is twin beds pushed together. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. We only used the restaurant for breakfast which was very good (full english)- though we wish we had had our evening meal there as the restaurant we did go to was awful. Please see our other review. Would definitely stay here again.

We went here for a drink one Saturday afternoon. We were amazed as to the transformation and hadn't been aware it had reopened. Beautiful courtyard front area and inside is really lovely. Staff were excellent, very friendly. Looked to be a lot of regulars in the bar area who obviously had a good rapport with staff, service excellent and lovely surroundings. We shall certainly try the restaurant on our next visit.
