Hi just spent 2 weeks in southport on the 3 times we went in twice the pier was closed and the 3rd time it was open no sign of movement with the tram the tram just sits there empty what a waste of money no signs to say the tram is not running and all there is on the end is a penny arcade which you have to change notes or pound coins to get the old pennies and cannot win anything because the old pennies are no good to spend even if you do win

great walk to the pier also a nice cafe when you get to the end no benches to sit down on route which is a bit of a downer if you have problems walking and need a rest. The little train goes to the end so you can catch that one way or both if you dont fancy the walk. There are a few amusments also at the end but not much else but a nice walk to it

It is currently under going refurbishment, it is worth the walk and was great on a sunny day! Shame the sea was about 2 miles away! The whole of Southport is currently being worked on.

Last week took four visitors to see the Pier, visited the 'cafe' ....................what a mistake. No smiles or welcome from the girl behind the counter,
Asked for six cups of tea, this was served in large mugs, teabag still in each mug, milk was offered in a two litre plastic bottle, nowhere to put teabags..............................!!!

I was so ashamed, what must our foreign visitors think of us???????

After years of refurbishing, Southport Pier, the seafront, Ocean parade food outlets, a Premier Inn, South port is a place to visit and enjoy.
Currently the park along the boulevard, the pavillions and the walk ways are being refurbished, but still Southport is a good place to spend a day out
