“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in all my life. Do not stay here.”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

We arrived to two drug dealers being arrested outside the hotel. We waited for the police to let us through so we could park the car but unfortunately there is no car parking without a permit. We entered the hotel and waited in reception to be seen. The reception doubles up as the entrance to Maloney's bar and drunks wondered in and out. We carried all our luggage to our room which was a distance away. The corridors smelt of urine and damp and the hotel was dirty and run down. On entering our room the beds weren't made and the toilet was full of excrement. We complained and after 20 minutes were given a new room. We moved our luggage to the new room only to open the door and find the room was occupied. Another 30 minutes later and a request to see the manager ( none on duty ) we were upgraded to a suite. The suite was disgraceful, two cheap pine beds, mismatched furniture, an old television with 4 channels and a sofa bed with a large rip in it and this was an upgrade!!!! The curtains were thin and let the street lights glare in, and when we became hot we had to prop the window open with a cup. The most disgraceful hotel we have ever stayed in and do not be mislead by the photo of the health spar, this is not the hotel. We have returned home in disbelief that we actually paid to stay there. Never ever again.

Oh where to start? telephoned the hotel before booking to make sure the hotel was accessible for my husband who uses a wheelchair. Was told the hotel was fully accessible we booked a room with a double bed to include breakfast and evening meal including a bottle of wine and entertainment.
When we arrived we were told that there was no accessible parking and no room in the hotel car park so we had to park nearly a mile away and carry our bags. the hotel has one small lift which was too small to fit my husbands wheelchair in, we had to remove the footrests and fold the handle bars to get in it. when we arrived on the second floor we found the doors would not stay open long enough for us to get through and had to ask another guest to help. when we finally got to the room we found we were given twin beds. We tried to telephone reception but no one answered. We decided that we would just unpack and pushed the beds together. Although the decor has seen better days the room was clean. We when down stairs to the bar to get a drink but then found that the only accessible toilet was upstairs on the first floor so we had to leave our drinks and dismantle part of the wheel chair to go up in the lift to the first floor. Outside the accessible toilets were chairs and a coat rail which I need to move before we could get in to the toilets. The Evening meal was included a with free bottle of wine which was undrinkable, the restaurant was fully accessible except it was self service and no one offer to help my husband with his meal. The evening entertainment was in a room on the first floor which had five step up to it with no ramp access. Every where arround the hotel they advertise a cocktail bar but when we asked where is was we were told there was no access for wheelchairs. We decided to have an early night but when we returned to our room the noise was terrible as our room was right above the entrance to the bar. We when to bed but by 12pm the noise had gotten louder we phoned reception to complain and were told it would continue until 2pm as it was a night club. We were offered another room but were told it wouldn't make any difference and we were already in the only accessible room.

In our opinion this hotel is not accessible and would only be suited to people who wish to stay awake to two in the morning oh yes one other thing and enjoy cold showers as there was no hot water.

Room Tip: Avoid not the hotel it used to be!

This was to be night to remember , It turned out to be one to forget , we arrive at reception and the girl behind the desk could not even be bothered to get up off her chair to speak to us end of moan 1, we went to our room called the hillside and at first glance looked ok with a 4 poster bed and a view over lord street that was the best bit , after unpacking we looked around the room a bit closer to find it dirty with dust and in a poor state of decoration so my wife got some wipes out and cleaned where she could , this done I decided to have a soak in the bath as I had been dragged up and down lord street shopping so I started running the bath when I noticed a sign saying due to the rooms location been far away from the hotels boilers it would take 10 mins for the hot water to reach us, try 30 mins and then it was luke warm , after our night out at our chosen restaurant which was superb we went back hoping for a good night,s sleep ah , we got into bed and I think the mattress must have seen action in the 1st world war lumpy and far too soft would not have been so bad but on my side of the bed I had a spring sticking in me, we gave up any thought,s of sleep around 4pm , breakfast is a free for all there only seemed to be 1 waitress who was struggling to keep up clearing tables we did manage to get a table went for our b/fast self service and wished I had not bothered very poor food , All in all a stay at a hotel that looked great in the pics on the internet but awful in real life will not be staying there again wished I had booked the ramada .:(

Room Tip: Don't pick the hillside room.

I am 70+ my friend 60+ we requested a twin room, instead were given a double bed and small camp bed only 5 inches from ground, on third floor, lift out of order. When complained to rec were informed hotel fully booked NO APOLOGY EVEN, manager not available. Food on Friday night dreadful, choice of liver or meat pudding. Very disappointing weekend one of worst hotels have stayed in..

Where do I start, my mother arrived here on Monday 20th May only to find out she never had a room after a lot of waiting about they realised her room was booked under Mrs Hamilton instead of Mrs Henderson. When she eventually got sorted and given here key card she climbed 4 floors to her room to find the key card didn't work 4 times she climbed up and down 4floors of stairs bearing in mind my mother is 74 this I find amazing to understand anybody would send an elderly lady up and down this many times without investigating why the key wasn't working eventually they went to find out what the problem was and had to change the batteries on the key lock as they where flat, Her room was freezing and her TV didn't work very well. For the first 3 nights of her stay her evening meal was liver this is fine if you love liver if not then you will just need to go hungry. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone my mother described it like spending 4 nights at faulty towers! Her only saving grace was the company she was with made her stay enjoyable.

we arrived on Friday 17th we had stayed a few years ago and it was lovely.this time was abysmal from start to finish which was thankfully sunday morning the evening meal well we would have been better fed at a homeless hostel pudding and chips with some carrots and shreaded cabbage for dessert defrosted choc.or sponge cake .the breakfast was ok but wasn't very hot but you cant do much wrong with bacon and eggs .we was kept awake with music booming and people shouting from the alley just under our window 2 nights on the go.i asked to use the swimming pool and was told it would cost us £4 each nowear on the advert says you have to pay they should say at a supplement.so be warned just don't go,

Room Tip: just don't bother
