“Riverside Caravan Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

Just had a good week at Riverside in late October staying in a 3-bed Caravan with double glazing and central heating. Really nice van with all amenities - kept us all really warm. Lovely site with ducks and chickens walking around and a river running through separating the caravan site from the touring site. Whilst there it was Halloween weeking and they arranged a Trick of Treat tour for the children and a Halloween Party in the evening. Apart from that it was fairly quiet in the evening as there were not many holiday makers there. Arranged events for the children both morning and afternoon inside. Very good cafe run by a lovely family at very reasonable prices. A very pleasant week apart from the weather. Easy access to Southport and Blackpool.

Room Tip: When its likely to be cold always go for a caravan with double glazing and central heating

just returned after three nights. had a superior pitch with a touring caravan, nothing superior about it, the most expensive pitch we have had all year, superior pitches are hard standing other pitches are grass? mud. toilets and showers are disgusting seldom cleaned some of the cubicles had excrement smeared on the walls, the showers had broken tiles dirty and rusty fittings having read the reviews I thought it cant be that bad. I was right it was worse cannot recommend it should be condemned by environmental health. Bar man did not want to serve you unless you were resident entertainment karaoke by drunk liverpudlians from the wrong side of the track site is 6.9 miles from Southport pier good bus service see escape committee for times

we stayed here from 22nd Oct to the 26th Oct. The lounge was closed. The family room wasn't open. You had to book swimming each day as we were told if nobody was booked in they wouldn't open it. The jaccuzzi was broken. The changing rooms were dark andddirty. The caravans were gorgeous though. Very clean and massive. I loved it and didn't want to leave it. The central heating was amazing too. So all in all caravan was exceptional. Site was appalling. But we didn't pay lots so don't really think i have much room to complain. I don't understand who people pay to have there caravan here though. Iut be missing something lol. Maybe there is a secret underground complex or something. Because i sure as hell couldn't see the attraction.

Booked 2 nights with our tourer it said £24 per nite in our caravan club book. I rang and booked they charged me £33 per nite they had put the prices up in September because of alterations to the park .The shower door was broke and the hand-drier.To me having visited quite a few times I think personally its gone down hill and won,t be visiting again

I was dreading staying here after the reviews I read, but you get what you pay for and I paid £9 per person per night to stay in one of their holiday caravans, what was I going to expect!

We arrived and were greeted by the friendly girls on reception and very swiftly located to our caravan. I was very pleased that they had upgraded us from a Silver to a Gold standard caravan at no extra charge and the caravan was spacious, spotless and of a high standard, the bedding was super clean and fresh and they had placed little extras in the caravan at no charge like toilet rolls, wipes, bin bags etc

I agree the club facilities, pool and public areas are tired and dated and children seemingly run around with no adult supervision, but we only used the park as a base and for that it was totally fine, I would not use this park to entertain a young family, a lot of young children hang around the arcade and were misbehaving we ignored them.

There are some cockerills crowing early in the morning that may wake you up, but heard no other noises apart from the wind and the rain and let's face if it rains on a caravan roof it wakes you up!

There is a bus right outside the park what takes you into liverpool or Southport but this did not turn up on the Friday on our first night and a taxi costs £10 into Southport central.

All in all a nice caravan, plenty of spacious parking and a great base for Southport.

I love this place we as a family come camping in the tent on electric. It has a big park split into 2. A river to fish. A good arcade n shop. In summer theres a childrens club open everyday. N a family bar open every nite. Not sumner holidays theyre open at weekends. The only problem with the place is flooding in bad weather. A lot if the pitches do get flooded n closed off. So overall a good holuday

On reading the reveiws on here we was not looking forward at all to our 3 night break, but well we had payed for it so we decided to give it a go. On arrival our caravan was ready (2.15pm arrival not 4pm). The caravan was spotless and clean all the bed linen provided was clean and fresh and this was a basic silver 3 van. The site itself is clean and the roosters are more of an attraction than annoying. Staff where polite and more than helpful so overall a great short break,we will be booking again. If you do wont something to moan about try Pontins up the road that is filthy!
