Good for: Families with children, Large groups
Dining options: Late Night, Breakfast, Delivery, Reservations
Description: Family run restaurant serving Italian food in addition to Burgers, Steaks, Fish etc. Our restaurant has been on Ocean Plaza for over twelve years, and we pride ourselves on being able to compete with the 'big boys' on this Branded-Commercial Leisure Site. Obviously sometimes this can bring it's issues - such as customers expecting fast food - we can never compete with the brands on speed as our food is not pre-packaged and frozen! Ocean Plaza offers free parking for customers and is home to an impressive multi-screen Vue Cinema, a 20 Lane Bowling Alley with Laser experience, a DW state of the art Fitness Club and a 95 bedroom Premier Travel Inn - which faces our restaurant.

Been staying at the premier inn opposite for a few days with kids for half term wanted to try somewhere for tea came on trip advisor to read reviews and was a bit dubious at whether to try Roberto's or not but thought i will go and make my own mind up and if i dont enjoy it i dont have to return. So glad we chose to give Roberto's a go couldn't fault it. We arrived at 6pm and considering it was half term it was not busy we were approached by a friendly staff member who showed us to a table staff were really child friendly i could not fault them. We were served quickly kids were given colouring pencils and booklet to keep them entertained. We didnt wait long for our food at all and when it came out it looked appertising. Food was really nice we had lasagne and garlic bread. My kids who are fussy ate all their food and asked if they could come again. All staff were friendly and welcoming service was great and food was lovely. Kids even ate free which was a bonus! Kitchen open plan so can see right in looked nice and clean restaurant gets a 5 star award for hygiene. Please ignore the bad reviews and decide for yourselves.

We had dinner here after going to the cinema and staying at premier inn. Looked quite nice. Soon seated and drinks arrived. For starter 1 meatball which was fine. They had run out of moulles so had prawn wrapped in pancetta. OK. The green salad never did arrive. The penne ariabetta was a little bland for me and the sauce could certainly have been better. The pizza was ok. Coffee fine. Service was slow and staff seemed more interested in eating cheese and a glass of wine at the bar talking to what appeared to be a couple of local folk. It was ok but I would find somewhere else if in Southport again.

Visited one weekday lunchtime with a Groupon voucher. Restaurant was almost empty when we arrived at 12 30. We were shown to our table by a very pleasant waiter. Our lunchtime deal was for a pizza, pasta or salad dish for two. The restaurant had a special menu printed for groupon users which was helpful. We ordered a tomato garlic bread to share, this was lovely. My glass of house white wine was very mediocre for just under five pounds! Until this point we both felt very positive regarding Roberto's, however, this changed when the pizza arrived. Both of the pizzas were burnt, my husbands calazone burnt on top and cold inside and my pizza burnt around the edges. As we were short on time we decided not to return the food and to eat around the burnt bits. The pizza was ok, not the best but certainly not the worst I have ever had, it was just a bit bland. We decided against dessert and went elsewhere for coffee. All in all an ok experience but the service from the waiter was very good. I would probably give them a try again next time I'm in Southport.

We have visited Robertos once in december when we had an early tea and were the only ones present . We ordered 2 pizza which did not arrive together. They were however both burnt on the bottom and uncooked ontop. The waiter took them away saying the grill was not heated enough. We then received the same pizzas back with burnt bottom and overcooked top. We were given one free tiramisu for attempting to eat the pizza!
We tred once again last week for a birthday lunch. There was one other couple present and the place was freezing, we kept our coats on. My calzone i wouldnt feed my dog it was covered in burnt patches, there were dirty serviettes on the floor of the next table and a piece of bread. Really spoiled our birthday lunch. Unfortunately we have a groupon voucher for lunch for 2 will not give it away!
