“Friendly service and good food and ale”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

On holiday in Pembrokeshire we were in Tenby on a Thursday night and having looked at lots of pubs and eateries plumped for the Coach & Horses. One of the attractions for us was its claim to be one of the oldest pubs in Tenby, and having once been visited by Dylan Thomas. Entering the pub it retains an olde world ambience with small, cosy areas and original architectural features such as low exposed beams. There are also old port hole style wall features reflecting the maritime character of Tenby, as well as some Thai/Asian decorations, to reflect the Thai menu on offer alongside more traditional British food. It also has a wood-burning stove in the lounge/restaurant, which added to the experience.
Two real ales were on offer, so we opted for the Welsh one, and quite tasty it was. We were hungry so both went for the mega boozy cod, which our host described as big. It arrived and certainly was a large plateful, consisting of beer battered fish, chips, garden peas and a dressed salad. The food was delicious and certainly satisfied our appetites - so much so that we couldn't manage a dessert, nor even another pint!
I would recommend this pub for its olde world ambience, friendly staff and good food (another customer had a Thai dish which looked very good too).

“bad food”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

spent a little under £100 on food and drink and to be totally honest, the worst meal we have ever had. to say the rice was overdone is a bit of an understatement and to top it off came in the shape of a pyramid. priceless. the curry was watered down and bland. the icing on the cake was the attitude of the female staff that served us. im not surprised we were the only customers there as people will vote with their feet. i know people and restaurants get bad days, but there really is no excuse for staff with bad attitudes. will never set foot in there again and i visit tenby a lot.
