Just before Christmas my wife and I stayed at this hotel with Shearings, on their Coast and Country Break. The Imperial Hotel literally grows out of the cliff face, offering truly unspoilt views out to sea.
Unbeknown to us our children had upgraded us to a sea view...and what a view! We were lucky to be put in Room 33. If you do book, spoil yourself and ask for this room, it's amazing. We won't say what's in it, it'll spoil the surprise. We would have been quite happy to pull up a chair, stare out of the bedroom widow for the duration of our stay.
The hotel itself is very nice, plenty of space to relax, two bars and a 'sparky' grand piano playing easy listening music all on it's own. Big picture windows so you can look out at the beach and sea whilst having your meals.....
All the meals were excellent, good choice, well cooked and presented. We've been on quite a few Shearings jollys and usually the meals are rushed through by an energetic staff...Not so The Imperial, meal times were easy going, civilised affairs, nice and relaxed.
All the staff were very helpful, smartly dressed and efficient. If we had to single out one in particular it would be Zeus, the wine waiter.....great bloke.
Pembrokeshire is a superb part of Wales and Tenby itself is a nice, compact place to wander around. The beaches are special - big and wide!
There are plenty of shops and pubs - One pub is just around the corner from the Hotel and well worth a visit!!!
Negatives? If we were to be really picky, which is not our style usually, we noticed an abundance of boot scuff marks on fire doors ( easily cleaned, but it was something that hit us straight away)
That's it. To sum up. One great Hotel, Magic room, great views, great staff, great food.
Quick mention for our coach driver Tony, who hadn't been to Tenby before. Very nice, helpful and kept his cool driving around Pembroke and when dealing with a wonky coach door!
