We've just returned from 3 nights at the Giltar and it was a fantastic stay in every respect. We arrived on spec after a 5 hour journey and the shock and disappointment that the hotel we had originally booked and paid for had closed down!
To say we fell in lucky at the Giltar would be a massive understatement. We were greeted warmly and invited to view any of the rooms before we booked but chose a deluxe room from the photographs in reception, which didn't do it justice at all. It was terrific - 6ft bed with top quality linen and a sea view to die for - and the bathroom was spectacular.
Also by the time we'd collected our luggage from the car and got to the room a birthday card was on the table waiting for me.
We ate in the restaurant on 2 evenings and the food and service was excellent. Breakfasts excellent too.
The best thing about the Giltar though is the staff, every one of whom was really friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for anyone.
All in all a wonderful experience and we will be recommending the Giltar to all our friends - and we will definitely be back!

We've just stayed at the giltar for 3 nights (fri-mon). Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a very helpful and attentive lady on reception who told us everything we needed to know regarding the hotel (times of breakfast etc). She then directed us to our room. The room had a sea view as we had requested however there was only a shower. This wouldn't have been an issue however we don't have a bath at our home & therefore really enjoy the luxury of having one when we're away. We explained this reception and asked if it was possible to move to a room with a bath. They couldn't have been kinder about it. Malcolm, who I believe is the manager, upgraded us to a deluxe sea view room at no extra cost. A really kind gesture that made us feel very welcome and appreciated as customers. Every evening we'd have a drink in the newly refurbished hotel bar which was lovely. Good selection, well priced and always accompanied by a very high standard of customer service. The breakfast in the hotel is fantastic. You can order what you like rather than scooping congealed eggsetc onto your plate which a lot of places seem to do these days. Your breakfast is brought to you fresh. There are plenty of things to choose from too and the tea and coffee is regularly topped up by the attentive staff. All in all a wonderful visit again. Will definitely be returning again.
