pub trying to be a hotel, and not working.
very disappointing no reception only bar staff to see to your needs and,not very well they where always busy as the pub is a very popular venue,
rooms were clean and comfortable if you could sleep through the noise.breakfast served in the bistro which we got to through a dirty glass shrewn court yard
.But have to say it was a very good breakfast.
on the whole not recomended

I've been to 70 countries and I can safely say that this was one of the worst hotels I have ever had the misfortune to stay in, the rooms are very poor, the place is filthy, the breakfast was the worst I have ever had and the noise and the music from the Pub downstairs, plus the noise from outside from the street until 2am makes sleep impossible, security via the open side gate and unlocked door is also non existant.

Parking is also miles away in pay car parks

THIS PLACE IS A [--] HOLE, PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE IN TENBY

Good points - right in the centre of Tenby, room just about OK.
Bad points (lots) - Started with having to double-park on yellow lines outside hotel to drop off luggage and then having to queue for 10 minutes whilst staff served people buying drinks before dealing with usl There is no dedicated reception area! Didn't appear to be many guests but still unable to park in hotel parking area. Website is extremely misleading as it implies that this is a hotel - it isn't! It's a pub with rooms. The photographs on the website also imply that there is a small bar and restaurant area - there might have been at some time in the distant past but this area is now closed other than for breakfasts. They do have a bar where you can eat but as described by an earlier review, it is a large open-plan pub. Talking about breakfasts, we stayed in this "hotel" for two nights and on the second morning, we went down to breakfast (which entails having to cross the courtyard to the ex-bistro in the pouring rain) and then found it was locked. When we went in search of someone to assist, we were told that they didn't think that there was anyone for breakfast - just workmen. However, the terms of our stay were B & B and if they didn't think there was anyone for breakfast, does that mean they were unaware of our existence in the hotel the night before? Again, we agree with the earlier review in that the stairs from the courtyard to the first floor did not appear to have been cleaned at all during our stay. Before our "adventure" with breakfast on the second morning, we were woken at approx 7.30 am by a delivery of barrels etc which took place right underneath our window. Finally, booking out once again took place in the bar. We found this establishment through the internet and personally feel that their website does not represent the reality and actually is quite misleading.

Upon arrival I found the staff very helpful and the room nicely decorated and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was to a good standard and the hotels location was ideal. There was one problem however, the noise. On the first night they had a DJ in the pub below that played until 1am. I went down on 3 occasions to ask for the noise to be turned down and they refused on each occasion. I spoke to the manager the next morning who apologised and offered us a partial refund of £40. She assured us that only the juke box would be making noise that night, however it was equally as noisy. Didn' get a full nights sleep both nights.

Oh dear, what a filth dirty place to stay.Welcome to Tenby! The courtyard at the back although it had some nice hanging baskets ,was strewn with broken glass and nub ends, there were kids roaming about on the floor. This was mid week in the middle of the day...24hrs later still nothing had been cleaned. The stairway up to our room was absolutely disgusting, really dirty with clods of mud and rubbish...this was also the same 24hrs later,no cleaning had been done. Breakfast...well we waited and waited and eventually someone came along after we called out, the food was ok but obviously re-heated.The "bistro" in which we ate this was grubby ,along with the crockery and the place stunk like an old stable. Its one of those places where you dont feel like eating or touching anything. All in all a total waste of hard earned money at £90 a night.

Things did not bode well on arrival. The whole ground floor of this old hotel has been opened up into a huge bar which caters for the younger population of the town. In mid afternoon they were playing RAP music. There is no hotel reception - this is handled by the bar staff. The girl who checked us in had difficulty finding the rooms in the maze of corridors and staircases that are located through a small door from the courtyard.

The room was lovely. Newly furnished, well equipped and spotlessly clean and I had a Regency balcony looking over the main square. Unfortunately it was also over the bar and I could hear music in the background. Oh well - we went for a drink and came back at about 1015pm. As I lay in bed the music was suddenly turned up so that it could almost have come from the room! I thought I would complain but even though there was a phone in the room there was no directory or folder of information about the hotel at all! So unless I got dressed and went into the noisy bar I would have to make do. Eventually I got to sleep - although the floodlights at the front didnt go off until well into the night and the town centre was noisy all night long.

In the morning we eventually found that the bistro out the back was where breakfast was served. We went in and sat down and after 10 minutes of not seeing a soul I had to go into the kitchen to find someone. When we did get our breakfast it was lovely - but there were no staff to make sure everything was alright.

It seemed to us that the place was trying to cater to two different markets. The year-round trade from youngsters in the pub and also attempting to keep this as the oldest hotel in town. It won`t work. One or the other - but not both. What a shame as it has all the potential to be a fashionable and stylish place in which to stay in what has to be one of the most characterful resorts in Britain.
