“Great food, quirky building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014 via mobile

We were looking for somewhere we could eat inside with our dog, and were pleased that Plantagenet House let her in, although only in the downstairs bar area. There's an extensive fish menu from which I ordered Hake curry, which was a generous hake fillet served on top of a prawn biriani with mushroom bhaji; spinach bhaji and cucumber raita. Definitely unusual but very good. Partner had rack of lamb which he said was also v good. Pricey compared to normal gastro-pub prices (£23 for the mains we ordered), but this is no gastro-pub. It's a lovely quirky old building, staff were friendly and service was good. A lovely evening and good value for money.

“Lamb at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014

we walked in and it was packed we asked if they could fit two people in and after a bit of shuffling around we were shown to our table, My other half hates lamb so I don't get to eat it very often I had a rack of lamb and it just melted in your mouth wonderful, my other half had pork tenderloins and he said they were extremely succulent and amazing. There was so much main course we had no room for dessert. I know when we go back to Tenby we are booking this restaurant. Once you've finished your meal pop downstairs and you can have a pint of real ale there too. Lush.

“Great Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2014

Our 7 year old son selected this restaurant on the basis of the nicely coloured boards in the street outside.

We initially thought that it was a pub or child friendly restaurant, but it became clear that it was actually a very nice restaurant. We were slightly apprehensive as we quickly realised that it wouldn't be a "chicken nuggets" type of restaurant! We did, however, decided to take the plung anyway.

The place is very beautiful and historic, the staff a very friendly and attentive. The food and service was wonderful. Even the children's meals of home made beef burger and sausage and mash was of a high standard.

The restaurant is child friendly, but is not the place to go for a quick snack, or if you are expecting a pub type meal as it is quite pricey, but it is well worth a visit as the food and location are beautiful.

“Really great meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

Ate here whilst on holiday on in Tenby. Was a bit uncertain as it is a bit pricier than some of the other local restaurants, but thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great, relaxed and informal in an interesting building. The food was superb - my husband had sole and I had a vegetarian dish. We didnt need starters as the portions were generous. Would definitely come again if ever in Tenby in the future.

Ate here tonight and we where seated in the fantastic chimney room which is truly outstanding ....complementary jug of water and love warm bread placed on the table very quickly, we have eaten here twice before over the past 2 years which is why we came back...I have left a review as I always forget....however this time I just had to... As truly every time it's been faultless ...outstanding service and staff that care, man atmosphere that is heart warming ....yes a little on the pricey side, we had two great starters goats cheese balls for my partner and an outstanding sweat potato and dill mixed and blended vegetable soup for me followed by two outstanding fillet stakes done truly to perfection and followed by 2 mouth watering home made creme brûlée's and all washed down with a great bottle of nice bubbly....how can you go wrong .....yes it may have been just over £100 but it was worth every penny and so was the tip we left .... This place gets it right every time that's why we go back ....you should ....highly recommended if you like outstanding ingredients cooked to perfection and you don't mind paying for it....we'll be back later in the year again ...don't miss this place if your in Tenby.....reservation pretty much essential in the summer months ...just give them a call at some either on the day or maybe the day before ...go and ENJOY :-)
