“Well cared for hotel in splendid location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

We booked this hotel for a short autumn break in an area of the country new to us. It is a very pleasant mid sized establishment in one of the best locations in Tenby - above the North Beach with outstanding views and within five minutes walk of the town centre and harbour. We were given a lovely room with two huge windows overlooking the sea. The hotel comprises several adjacent buildings, the centrepiece of which is a stunning three storey staircase with appropriate paintings and furniture. It offers simple accomodation and service and there is a slightly regimented feeling e.g. you must choose your dinner choices at breakfast and meals are at 8.30 am and 6.30 pm, a bit of a problem if you want a flexible schedule. However, the whole place is spotlessly clean and well-maintained and the food is unfailingly well-prepared and tasty. Staff are keen to please and efficient. There were coach parties staying but this probably helps to explain the very competitive rates which the Cliife Norton offers. We recommend that you book one of the hotel's parking spaces just around the corner as parking in Tenby is difficult. We shall undoubtedly revisit the delightful town of Tenby, the Pembrokeshire coast and the Cliffe Norton.

Room Tip: Worth asking for a sea view - stunning, right across to the Gower.

Just returned from A 5 day holiday with David Palmer to this excellent hotel and 8 other friends from Leeds. All of our rooms were excellent, well furnished, spotlessly clean bathrooms. Greeted with tea and toasted tea cakes on arrival. The restaurant is first class and the food was the best we have had even in 5 star hotels, lovely choice and presented piping hot, a special thanks to Marcia our waitress, nothing was too much trouble for her. Lovely atmosphere generated by the Proprietors and their lovely staff. Would visit again very soon, trouble is it is over 300 miles away!!

This hotel was excellent value. It benefits from overlooking Tenby's beautiful North beach. Lovely for swimming in sea & evening walks etc. My room at the back did not have the sea view but was quiet and overlooked pleasant gardens. There is a grand staircase. The best thing about this hotel is the quality of the evening meal- which was suprisingly adventurous and very good- there was always (just) one vegetarian option ( + fish). However breakfast was a bit disappointing as options are restricted (no beans or mushrooms but on the positive side they do have vegetarian sausage), you cannot help yourself to cereals etc. Staff seem to enjoy working here and work together well as a team and are very efficient. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. There is a large bar area and a dance floor with entertainment of variable quality but I guess that is a matter of taste. The general decor would benefit from updating - the loud multi patterned carpets seemed new but not to my taste & often in competition with the wallpaper! My bathroom was modern and clean but small - anyone of above average size would struggle to access the loo! If you have poor mobility , you would need to check access - there are steps up to the front door and not all rooms can be accessed by lift alone (but require also going up or down a few stairs). If you like watching TV, you may find the set a little small. Ask if you need to borrow a hairdryer.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights from 10th to 13th September. We chose this hotel thanks to other reviews and the fact we are suckers for a room with a seaview. First impressions the hotel was nicely presented with plush carpets throughout and we had a pleasant greeting at reception. Our room was nicely furnished with a comfortable Chesterfield style settee to relax on after long days walking. There was loads of storage including a walk in closet and a comfortable firm bed. Although we had a room overlooking the road our nights were generally quiet which made for a good nights sleep. Our room had a bath with shower attachment so you could have a choice. Parking is quite difficult near the hotel so we opted to pay an extra £3 per night to use one of the allocated slots behind the hotel. There is a fob operated barrier which you need to collect from reception each time you want to use the carpark. Would suggest you park at front when you check in and unload your bags as the carpark is a 2 - 3 minute walk around the block to get to the rear of the hotel. This hotel was more formal than we are used to with breakfast at a fixed time of 8.30am. Breakfast service is at the table with no option to help yourself to cereal, fruit juice although all these things are available on the breakfast menu. We had a lovely waitress at breakfast who was always cheerful and attentive no matter how full the dining room. All in all this hotel would not be our usual choice but this is not a criticism as it was pleasant in is its own way. And we had some wonderful weather which made for a great break and would defintely come to Tenby again.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are at the front.

We highly recommend this hotel in every way after staying for the weekend. The rooms are beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and super bathrooms. We would definitely have dinner again as Martin the proprietor is an exceptional chef. Hotel bar and entertainment in the evening most enjoyable.Ask about parking on arrival as there is some private parking available. Excellent value for money as well as a lovely vacation experience.

Room Tip: Lovely sea views at front and lovely quiet garden view at rear.
