“Cheap with great views”

All you expect from a wetherspoons, with friendly staff. It has a lovely view from the terrace. Great value for money.

“A Great Holiday Base”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2014

As a previous Wetherspoons-dodger, I really enjoyed it here.
I was staying in a nearby hotel and as I was on a budget, decided to breakfast here in the mornings as it was a very reasonable £4.60 for a massive breakfast.
The architecture and decor is beautiful and it is right on the coast. The staff were always accommodating and pleasant - for instance, chatting to me about menu choices and replacing the eggs I did not want with extra toast.
The menu is much slimmer now with less options and more focus on burgers, hot dogs etc. I think this ensures that when you do order, the results are more consistent than the sprawling menus these pubs used to have. The food generally doesn't come with salad or vegetable accompaniments however, although these can be purchased as an add on later.
There is an upstairs open plaza of sorts and my partner and I came here most nights to have a alcoholic drink or a coffee whilst watching the sun set over the sea. It might be a good idea to remember that this area does close during windy or very wet weather.
This place got busy in the evenings and you had to be quick to get a table. I think it was very difficult for those in large groups to find one.
Overall, this was a wonderful little holiday base, and in the end I think the staff found it hard to get rid of us. Thanks for looking after us on our holiday, Wetherspoons staff!

“cold food coffee like hot water”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2014

well been to weather spoons Ilfracombe, ordered coffee, bowl of chips & 2 chicken & chips. There coffee tastes like hot watery coffee , I had a word with the waitress who brought our food out , told her your coffee is very very weak her reply was oh yes lots of people say that , & walked away, chicken was just warm but the chips were very hot, had no sauces offered to us . All in all will not be coming back , live local. & will most definitely be supporting the local cafes from now on .

“Good place to go for a bite to eat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2014

Would recommend this for a pit stop if you require a drink or food.
It's in a prominent position on the front and on a sunny day it's nice to go onto the roof terrace and enjoy a drink looking out to sea.
The food is tasty and appeared quickly at the table it's exactly what you'd expect from a wetherspoons pub.

“Good Food, Slow Service when Busy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

Visited here while on holiday with the family. When we arrived we sat at a table which had the last customers plates and glasses on it, a member of staff took away the plates but left the glasses which took a hour for another member of staff to move them after been asked by a member of the family. When we ordered our food the queue was 6 people deep at 5 or 6 tills, staff did there best to get the queue down as fast as they could. We ordered and was told our food was a 30 minute wait which was fine. After 30 minutes another customer went to ask were the food was and was told it was coming their food came and we waited another 25 minutes til a member of the family asked were our food was the member of staff said she would go and see, the member of staff did not return but our food arrived within 5 minutes of asking so overall it took a hour for the meal to arrive. When it arrived the meals were hot and were really nice ,the only down side was the chicken which I had was dry and another member of the families naan bread was over cooked and really tough to eat. Overall we enjoyed the meal but the time people have to wait and the communication between members of staff and members of public is poor.
