“Fantastic Park - Highly Recommended”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2011

We visited Hele Valley for the Royal Wedding weekend, staying in a three bedroom cottage with a hot tub. From start to finish, we could not fault the trip and would like to thank manager Jenny for her fantastic hospitality.
The cottage was immaculately clean when we arrived, fantastically kitted out and warmed up instantly when the heating was put on in the evening. The cottage (Poppy) was just outside the park entrance and very peaceful. The hot tub is well worth the hire fee and was lovely and hot for the whole weekend. The staff were great and the hot tub tested and cleaned by a lovely chap every day.
The area of Hele is great, easy walking to the shops (very well stocked garage), pubs (good chips in Hele Billy's) and beach (small but quaint). We visited Ilfracombe, Croyde and Woolacombe easily too, a great position all around.
We were with friends this time but will be returning with the children to camp as the site is lovely and clean, peaceful and friendly.

First time camping and if the facilities are as good as this we will be coming again!! The amenity blocks are kept really clean, lovely warm showers, well kept pitches. After four days we upgraded to a caravan with hot tub. The site is a 5 minute drive from Ilfracombe harbour and really handy for surfing beaches and other attractions. There is a good local store close by, two great pubs across the road and the site shop has all the essentials. Everyone really friendly, not much noise noise - overall excellent experience....

Room Tip: Discounts available if you have visited before.

Firstly, we were HUGELY lucky with the weather - the boiling hot week at the end of June couldn't have provided a better backdrop to our trip to Devon. Having not camped in a tent for about 10 years and never in the UK, we were somewhat nervous about what to expect from Hele Valley but our friends had done their research well... the site was fantastic!

I should also caveat that the campsite was pretty empty when we were there, so our experience was only improved by that!

The campsite is (or was until we got there) extremely quiet and very clean. The showers were superb, there was always enough hot water, the block was warm enough to go to the loo in the night and not freeze, and the loos were very clean.

They seemed very relaxed about us having BBQs which was nice, and there was a great little playground for the toddlers which we used a lot.

Overall, a superb experience and one which has spurred us on to do more UK camping!

A group of friends and I stayed at this holiday park for two nights. We camped on one of the sites larger plots and felt it was a good size. We didn't have any neighbours but I think that is due to the time of year.

The bathroom and washing up facilities are good and well maintained. I can imagine at peak times of the year there can be a bit of a queue to use these facilities, but we did not find this an issue.

We bought some eggs from the farm next door and there is a tesco about 10 minutes drive from the site where we bought the other food.

The location is good, with lots of things within walking distance: a tearoom about 5 minutes walk away and a pub about 15 minutes walk away.

There are lots of beaches you can visit in the area - all of which are a short car journey away.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The park was quiet and met it's promise of being a place to find "peace and tranquillity."

What a wonderful place! The campsite is not too big with good sized pitches. Very quiet and very clean. Slightly sheltered from the wind. The shower block is very clean – with hot water; although the pressure does drop if more than one of you is taking a shower or washing up. There is a small play park for small and older children. Wonderful, friendly staff. I can not recommend this place highly enough – we will be back.

Stayed here during August weather not very good rained most of the time but accommodation was spotless and well equipped. Park was kept nice no litter and grounds well tended. On arrival reception staff were most helpful giving lots of local information. Two great local pubs only a few minutes walk from the park both serve up good freshly cooked meals. Had a spa on our accommodation.......fantastic well worth the extra.

Visited the site in late july early august on arrival very friendly guy on reception had been allocated a lovely pitch 55 with water and electric it was very very boggy could cope with this due to a lot of heavy rain. Very peaceful and lovely large pitch. When going to the pot wash area/shower block the water pressure was a joke!! washing pots was painful as the water was very very slow and cold most if my stay the shower block was awful no hot water after 8.30am in the morning freezing cold shower 6 days out of my 11. Not enough facilities for the size of the camp. Had a good holiday though nice walks into Ilfracombe and loads of nice places to visit lovely beaches. Lovely pub on the road outside camp Hele Bay nice food and wine very friendly staff.
