A friend and I spent a few days exploring this coastline and loved the quirkyness of this sea side town.....so many of the wonderful hotels appear to be of a bygone age ... Dated and fading but my friend and I enjoyed our two night stay at the Grosvenor...friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was plentiful and served efficiently by lovely staff. A bonus for me was the hotel had soya milk! How the hotel makes any money from the amount we paid is staggering....so take no notice of the negative comments and enjoy this lovely part of England. A visit to Tunnels beach, Damien Hirst's Restaurant and the statue of Verity is a must...controversial she might be but that's the point!

Budget hotel but full of purple rinse brigade.
Good location and friendly staff, breakfast is good, rooms are small too. You get what you pay for here.
Not romantic but a good base to explore the local area and Devon in General.

We nearly never turned up because of some of the reviews. Glad we did, we had a fab time! Although the bed was a bit lumpy this was the only concern. Yes it's a seaside hotel and yes it's a bit outdated however, our room and bathroom were extremely clean. We were Served our meals very quickly and with a smile. Staff very nice. We would go again

Room Tip: Over reception room

We stayed with a voucher which fortunately didn't include evening meal(s), breakfast wasn't very good, as said by previous contributers the hotel caters for coach parties first and foremost, we were on the outside of the main dining room with the rest of the people on similar deals. The hotel as a whole is an absolute maze, corridors everywhere and steep staircases, you wouldn't want ot get out in a rush if you were slightly infirmed. Main entertainment and lounge rooms are quite well decorated but the rest of the hotel is tired, old, old fashioned, in need of a major refurbishment and parking is also out on the street so you need to get there quite early or wait until parking restrictions have finished so that you're not in danger of getting a ticket or having to pay. In all seriousness we couldn't recommend it or go back again

Room Tip: Look for a room which isn't too dark and has some kind of view out of the window, all the better if you can actually get a glimpse of the sea front, no matter how limited

Nice hotel and our room was clean and comfortable, lovely friendly staff.
The head waiter was very organised, dinner and breakfast very nice.
Entertainment was included and the singer had a great voice.
Overall our weekend stay at the Grosvenor was good value for money and I would definitely stay there again.
