We have just returned from a 2 night KGB break. We did not expect much as we paid well unde £100 for a 2 night DBB. We were welcomed and chatted to by all staff. The food was adequate and not much choice, but delicious and a clever way for the hotel to keep costs down. All food was cheerfully served, hot and sufficient. Large party of Coach trippers but also very friendly. The room was small but clean with en suite and tea making facilities...little TV perfectly adequate to watch. Entertainment every night...really enjoyed Alan the 60s singer and guitarist

Overall we felt welcomed and would certainly do it ll again

We stayed here for two nights. We got a group-on deal so wasn't expecting 5* luxury.

Staff were all very helpful, friendly and attentive.

Rooms were in my opinion very very dated. Really needed some new duvet covers, blankets & modernising. We had holes in our duvet, carpet was a little shabby and so was furniture but it was clean. However, our bed was so uncomfortable, my husband and I are was in agony each morning. So so soft and bouncy, we both fell into the middle. This is the reason I would never go back!

Breakfast was ok, very basic food & ingredients, but ok.

I would NEVER pay full price but what we paid was ok.

Had a love break in Ilfracombe... Gorgeous seaside town.

Just returned from a short break in Ilfracombe staying at the Grosvenor Hotel,,,what a shambles..the place is in dire need of refurbishment. We stayed in room 348 , there was a faulty lock on the door...each time we returned to the room after a day out the door was wide open..we complained to the manager 3 times , he promised to sort it out but nothing was done !!So much for security and privacy. The room was like a fridge , freezing cold, we resorted to putting our bath towels along the bottom of the door to stop the draught and the view from the window was of scaffolding around a derelict building..lovely !!!
Food was very poor with only two choices of main course, burnt roast potatoes every day and almost raw vegetables. This was after waiting on average 25 mins to place our order. The staff were continuously apologising for the long wait but nothing changed during the stay.. Obviously a severe staff shortage . The single barman on duty in the evening was also looking after the reception so waiting to buy an extortionate drink was the norm.
We travelled with Just GO Holidays ( perhaps they should be renamed Don,t Go Holidays ) We certainly will not travel with them again if this is an example of the class of hotel they use. We have contacted them but the response was to say the least very negative. We understand that these breaks are described as budget but surely they should use hotels of a reasonable standard and not " Fawlty Towers " I repeat avoid them like the plague, we certainly will !!!

My friends and I stayed at the Grosvenor Hotel for 5 days on a coach trip 18th March 2013.
Despite reading 'bad' reviews from some people we were pleasantly surprised at how friendly the management and staff were. We were greeted with a cup of tea while our cases were taken to our rooms. The bedrooms we had were newly decorated and the heating was excellent. One night the bar area was chilly but a word to the staff and that was soon rectified. We had a good choice of menu for breakfast & dinner and nothing was too much trouble with our choices.
The hotel is undergoing renovations and we feel sure that given time the décor will be good. This is a family run hotel and everybody works hard to make you feel welcome.
