I had one of the best museum visits ever in this little treasure trove. The most bonkers and wonderful collection of finds. The drawers of exhibits were brilliant. I can't decide on my favourite bit though... the bats in jars, pickled two faced kitten and double beaked gosling or the drawer of Very Old wedding cake. Just the most extraordinary place full of surprises run by super volunteers. Well worth the minimal fee. Can't wait to go back.

“Surprising little gem in a small harbour town well worth a visit!!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We visited this museum for the first time despite our 3rd year of holidaying in this area. What a delight was in store for us. It was a rainy day so me my partner & 2 young kids decided to give this place a visit. What a little gem! So much to see, feel, read about it was awesome. Our younger boy disappeared for an hour with another boy he'd befriended doing the dinosaur quiz...the staff kept them amused & fully engaged. Only costing 2 pound each for adults with kids going free but return visits at no extra cost.......Brilliant! We will definitely be going again on our next holiday if just to help keep the museum going as something like this is a treasure nowadays. Well worth a visit on a rainy day highly recommend

“Great mix of local history and curiosities.”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

A small but interesting museum divided into 5 or 6 galleries displaying everything from historical maps and photographs of the area, including nearby Lundy Island, to African beadwork and pickled natural "curiosities". Exhibits include equipment from Ilfracombe's ship to shore radio station, drawers full of "natural history" and household items through history.

Good value and definitely worth a visit if you're in Ilfracombe with plenty to interest children as well as adults as many of the exhibits are "hands on".

“Small and compact”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

Although small, there is plenty to see and do in the museum.
Not to expensive to get in and they provide things for the kids to do whilst in there.
