As soon as you step into the building, you are hit with a range of facinating artifacts to look at, some of which you can handle.

It cost us £3 each (adult) to visit and the ticket allowed us to return as many times as we liked in the week.

There are several rooms, filled to the brim with facinating items, including an area you can try your hand at brass rubbing (for an extra charge) - the staff were fantastic too.

This attraction is a must if you are visiting Ilfracombe!

It was different and interesting and the children loved looking at the creepy crawlies (dead ones of course) and as 4&6 year olds enjoyed it

What an amazing little place. We loved it so much we returned twice. Our hard to please 3 boys, aged 3,6 and 8, were enthralled. The staff on the desk are a delight. The artefacts can be touched if they are not in cases which is wonderful for a hands on learning experience for children (and adults!). I myself was unable to gaze at the hairy spiders in the drawers ..... A must do on a rainy day in Ilfracombe.

We only really visited this museum as it was raining heavily and we needed a place to shelter, not expecting much. The admission price was very good, kids were free and adults only a few pounds each, and you could re-use the ticket as many times as you wanted that week. There was so much to look at, it was fascinating. The staff were very friendly and helpful and really knew their stuff. The kids did not want to leave, there were trails for them to complete, lots of drawers full of butterflies, bugs, spiders and other things to keep them entertained for ages. They could touch things, play with things, make things - including brass rubbings. We did go back again later in the week at our 8 year old son's request as he loved it so much!
