“A great way to spend a rainy afternoon”
Reviewed October 25, 2011

The kids loved this hands on museum. We visited on a rainy afternoon in half term and I was quite surprised that we were the only family there. Most other visitors were older couples. We all enjoyed looking in the various draws, and also the cupboard with the bats in. The kids spent ages playing on the ship radio station, and for £1.50 they also did a brass rubbing each. Overall a quirky and fun museum, well worth the visit.

I am sorry that you felt unwelcome when you visited our museum in October. We have a huge number of postive comments both on this site and in our visitors book that say how friendly and helpful our staff and volunteers are, and it is unfortunate that you didn't have this experience. However, unlike council run museums we must raise our funding through visitor fees and our little shop, and occasionally it is our practice to gently remind visitors that whilst they may browse the shop for free, they must pay a small charge to look around the museum. And I must finish by saying that, at just £2 for concessions, and £2.50 for adults, with all children free, our museum of 8 rooms is considered to be excellent value for money!
