When my wife and I decided to take a day trip to Lundy Island, the biggest decision we had to make, was where to stay in Ilfracombe.

After searching through booking.com and reference their selection with Trip Advisor, we decided to stay at this hotel. The hotel is situated in convenient and easy to get part of the town directly opposite a charming pub called The Thatchers Inn.

After a very tiring but enjoyable day in Lundy, we were greeted by Karen and Russ the owners of the Hotel. We checked in and were taken to our room which was spotlessly clean with an extremely comfortable bed. These guys had only recently purchased this hotel in December and it was obvious they had worked very hard upgrading the décor. We were made to feel very welcome and at ease. We had a lovely meal at the pub directly opposite and had an early night that turned out to be the best sleep of the holiday.

The following morning we had a fantastic breakfast tailored to specific requests and after a chat with Karen and Russ left, on towards our next destination.

We couldn’t fault this couple and their hotel. Admittedly they have got more work to do upgrading the bathroom suites etc but Rome wasn’t built in a day. Their high standards and passion around what they do is obvious to see and we both wish them the best of luck in the first season. A very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We had room number 11 which had a Kind Size Bed and fantastic view over the sea.

Wonderful hotel in an idyllic location. Immaculate accomodation with 5 star service. Nothing is too much trouble for hosts Russ and Karen who have extremely high standards and provide their guests with exceptional service and amazing breakfasts. There are various restaurants to suit every taste around the picturesque harbour which is within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. If you do not fancy venturing too far there is a quaint thatched pub directly opposite the Marine Court which serves excellent food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have booked to return in September.

Had a two night stay with Karen and Russ, and what a lovely time we had! Five motorbikes, eight people descended on them using the Marine Court as a 'half way' point to a flying visit to Lands End. What wonderful hosts, snowy white bedlinen and towels, spotlessly clean, lovely comfy beds and a the most fantastic breakfast ever! Nothing was too much trouble - even when we all turned up dripping wet from being rained on all the way from Lands End to Ilfracombe! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

We stayed at the Marine Court for two nights from 13th April and found everything about our stay amazing. The room was big enough for what we needed and we also had a lovely sea view, the hosts Karen and Russ were very welcoming and after only two night we felt like we had known them for years. The whole of the hotel was spotlessly clean, the breakfast was fit for a king and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will be returning next year.

We stayed at the Marine Court for two nights and were given a warm welcome by the lovely couple Russ and Karen. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout and is obviously well looked after. Our room ( no. 5) was a delight ,airy and modern and nicely decorated. The huge bed was extremely comfortable. There was ample storage space,a clean, well maintained bathroom lovely fluffy towels( the shower was a little disappointing ,but not a problem),a well stocked hospitality tray( although some decaf coffee would have been appreciated) and a lovely view from the window. The breakfast was delicious offering fresh fruit salad and a good choice of cereal, excellent cooked options which included scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. All in all this has to be one of the best breakfasts we've had in a guest house/ B&B. The dining room was spacious and light and the service by Karen was excellent. The position of the hotel was great ,just a few minutes easy walking from the harbour, but nowhere is far away, there are plenty of good places to eat .We tried the Ilfracombe Tandoori and were not disappointed. We also went into Barnstaple to Jalapenos mexican, again, very good. Another plus point was that the hotel has parking spaces just around the corner so no problem with finding somewhere to park .I must say that Marine Court is one of the nicest places we've stayed for a short break and I would definately reccomend it.

Room Tip: rooms at the back have a sea view

Excellent location, lovely guest house. We had a brilliant room with superb sea views, and were able to park the car just next to the guest house. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful and our hosts Russ and Karen couldn't do enough for us. A breath of fresh air, made a great change to see such fab customer service in action.

The harbour at Ilfracombe was only a 5 minute walk away and our hosts gave us some great advice on things to do and places to go.

Would definitly recommend and we will be staying there again......I hope:-)

Room Tip: Choose a top floor room with superb sea views.

We stayed at the Marine Court Hotel for 5 nights in August. We were in the two bedroomed family room at the front of the hotel which was a great size for the 3 of us. The hotel was very clean and smartly decorated throughout with lots of nice homely touches. We even had a view of the sea from the window in my son's room.
The room was quiet with great facilities such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and bottled water. I particularly liked the very large fluffy bath sheets provided.
Another nice touch was the collection of games and novels on the landing that you could borrow during your stay.
Breakfast was excellent and was efficiently served in the very nicley decorated dining room. It filled us up for the day. Location was perfect and was just over a 5 minute stroll down to the harbour.
The owners were very friendly and helpful with useful tips on places to visit and things to do.
There was a small car park at the back which we were able to use.
The only small downside I can think of was that the shower was not ever so powerful but this really is a very minor point.
We would certainly stay here again and will probably do so next year. My son was very reluctant to leave as he enjoyed his stay so much.
Overall everything including value for money was excellent and we would fully recommend this hotel.
