“Friendly welcome in peaceful surroundings”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

We have just spent a very comfortable weekend in Swallow Barn B&B. Our welcome was warm and informative, and we were handed our keys with the all-important - to us - "come and go as you please".
The ensuite room contained a comfortable double and a single bed, TV, plus kettle and a variety of drinks, not to mention leaflets for various local attractions in the dresser drawer, and I must say the room was a generous size. We loved the velux window above the beds!
The rural location was gorgeous, but the magnificent beach at Woolacombe was less than ten minutes away in one direction, with Ilfracombe about five minutes the other way. For the first night the sky was completely clear, and the absence of light pollution made a look up at the sky very rewarding.
The only downside we found to our room was the ease with which we heard conversations from the strangers staying in the adjoining and connected room. I expect their problem was how to drown out our snoring at 3am! - although we never heard a peep from the occupied rooms opposite ours.
The breakfast experience offered us a wide choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurt and juice, and our hosts brought us our full English, hot drinks and toast. On the second day they remembered our special requests from the first morning, which is entirely to their credit. It didn't really affect us on a weekend stay, but the only slight niggle we felt with breakfast was the limited timeframe that the cooked element was on offer, from the relatively late 8.30am. I understand completely why they do it - otherwise someone would be staffing the kitchen half the morning - but I felt a little pressured not to miss the 20 minute slot.
Having said that, the little moans are just that: little. Overall we had a great time there. We felt welcome, with hosts who were knowledgeable about the locality and happy to answer questions. The room felt relaxing to be in, and the breakfast was mainly sourced from the farm, and cooked to your taste.
Well worth a visit!

We have just stayed at Mullacott Farm with our daughter and grandaughter and what a fantastic stay had by us all. The welcome was warm and inviting in fab surroundings. We had adjoining rooms which worked out great and when I say rooms they were more like suites where we could sit on an evening with a glass of wine without feeling like we were just stuck in our bedroom. The rooms and bathrooms where immaculate and well catered for. Breakfast was first class and catered for all our taste. Our hosts were so friendly, offering local info and even discount vouchers for attractions. To be able to take our grandaughter to meet the farm animals at the end of a busy day was a treat. Will definitely return and recommend.

There is nothing pretentious about this lovely Devon coastal retreat. The welcome is warm, whatever the time of day and hospitality abounds naturally from this lovely host family.

I visited as a guest at the wedding of a very special couple who created a fairytale event, transforming the camping field to a majestic pageant, hand-crafted banners dancing to the sea breezes. The carefully planned celebrations mirrored the beautiful open spaces for the perfect way to celebrate their happiness.

If you would like a wedding venue in the open air, you could create a unique, intimate, memorable and magical day at Mullacott Farm!!

I stayed for two nights in Swallow Barn's dedicated and spacious B&B which was extremely comfortable, clean and restful. Breakfast was delicious, free range, organic and beautifully cooked while the atmosphere always friendly and informal.

After a couple of days, relaxed almost to the point of horizontal and totally bonded to the whole concept of Mullacott Farm, I wished I did not have to leave. I will definitely go back again one day!

Room Tip: Spacious rooms cater for the single guest or a family. Lovely big ground floor rooms have a patio wi...

Mullacott Farm provided the perfect setting for my daughter's wedding reception and it seemed nothing was too much trouble for our wonderful hosts Alison, Adrian, Caroline and Brian from the moment our little team of willing helpers descended on them to start turning their camping field into a magical venue with a circus-tent style marquee as the centre-piece and flag poles fixed to every fence post.
The various choices of accomodation meant there was something for everyone, family and friends, all in one place. The "oldies" amongst us stayed in the B & B where every room is large, airy and beautifully clean providing a welcome, peaceful haven at the end of each busy day. My elderly mother stayed in a ground-floor room opening onto a lovely patio, complete with table and chairs. There is ramped access for wheelchairs, and also some disability/mobility aids available to borrow on request, which was brilliant, so check what's available before you try to fit it all in the car.
Many of the younger guests, caterers and musicians entered into the spirit of the occasion and pitched tents, camper vans and caravans on the camping field. We also hired the static caravan for the week which provided a perfect "home-from-home" enabling meal-times and sleep-times for my 15 month-old grandson to continue as normally as possible.
A beautiful setting, (the newborn lambs and the "oinky" pigs in the farmyard brought many smiles to many faces, young and old) excellent accomodation, first-class breakfast and lovely, lovely people. We could not have wished for more. Everyone was made so welcome and no-one wanted to leave. I am sure we and many of our guests will return again and again. Thank you all at Mullacott Farm for helping to make my daughter's wedding weekend dream come true. xxx

I have been meaning to write this review for a while.

We had a really lovely stay with friends. Lovely owners, great views on farm, lovely animals, great breakfast, great price with plenty to do in the area. Our holiday was nicely finished off by quad bike course a 5 minute walk away.

Thanks for a lovely working break

I can't praise Mullacott Farm enough, we first stayed in the campsite a few years ago and had such a relaxing holiday we returned the next year (most unlike us!), then the year after and the year after that!

This year was very special because we returned with our one year old, who starting quacking like a duck within a day of arriving and spent a great deal of his time going to visit them. The pure joy on his little face when we opened the curtains of our camper to see alpaca and chickens was priceless.

Alison, Adrian and their family are wonderful, we can't fault them. We look forward to spending many a glorious family holiday at Mullacott Farm.

Room Tip: Don't worry, they're all good!
