The Olive Branch is a Grade 2 listed building situated on a narrow and sloping access on Fore Street, the oldest in Ilfracombe. The location is perfect, extremely close to the harbour, shops and numerous pubs and restaurants, all within minutes walking distance. Although adjacent car parking is not possible (few residents owned cars when it was built!), it is no different to many other establishments in popular resorts, but a long term car park is available, easily accessible, and just a short distance away, charging £3.10 per day, with overnight parking free. We were allocated Room 3 on the top floor with decent sized proportions and an open plan living area, with great views from the side window looking down towards the harbour and to the hills beyond. The roll top bath is a nice touch, perched on a slightly elevated platform, with subdued ground level lighting adding to the relaxing ambience, and exposed wooden beams in the ceiling emphasising its’ early origin. Thick walls screen any excessive outside noise, and we slept soundly under warm and comfortable bedding. Cooked to order breakfasts were fulfilling and delicious, and taken in the adjoining Olive Room restaurant, which incidentally is worthwhile dining in for dinner, with discounts given to B&B guests. We found the Olive Branch to be a delightful place to stay, bedding down in a location steeped in history, and under the management of dedicated owners Paul and Carol, who have worked hard to preserve its’ heritage and raise the bar above standard B&B offerings. When we return, this is the place we would stay, without hesitation.

The Olive Branch is an amazing place to stay. Our room in this Georgian building, in a historic street leading down to the harbour, was fabulous. A huge bow window where we could sit, with a panoramic view across the town and harbour out to sea, was simply wonderful and with a super kingsize bed and a large flatcreen tv, we were well provided for. Breakfasts were first class and taken in the lovely restaurant below, prepared by the owners who were both friendly and welcoming.Dinner could also be taken in the delightful restaurant, with a special rate for guests and both the food and service was excellent. The harbour is a few minutes walk away, as is the town itself and promenades. We will most certainly return again soon.

I booked this through Late Rooms and on arrival there is a small enterance but this opens up to a large and well designed B&B. The rooms are clean and comfortable, Paul and Carol are fantastic host and are there to help where they can a great breakfast. I wish them both well for the future.

Hard to fault. Found it by searching online. Warm and friendly welcome. Room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Ideally placed for the town - but parking is a 5 min walk. Nothing was too much effort for the hosts to make our stay enjoyable. Would highly recommend - you will struggle to find better value or hosts in Devon !

This guesthouse is really great value. I stayed here for one night, as we were attending a wedding nearby and was really surprised how nice it was considering the price in comparison to other places at peak season. The twin room was very clean and nicely decorated and the owners very friendly and helpful with local advise. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Only downside is there is no on site parking but we had no problem parking in a car park at the bottom of the road, which cost £3.10 for 24 hours and the guesthouse is in walking distance of the harbour, tunnels beach, high street etc.

We found it surfing the Web and when I saw the "Family accomodation" (1 double+1 Twin) for just 120£, I wrote to reserve.
The double room was bigger than my house, instead the twin was a little small, but both very clean and pleasant.
There was also a kitchen available for guests at any time with tea, coffee and biscuits.
Paul was very friendly and explained us how to reach the best restaurant.
In the morning, we decided that we needed a change and then abandoned eggs and bacon for a delicious Scottish smoked salmon.
