We recently stayed in the Towers Hotel, Ilfracombe. My sons were running in the Exmoor Marathon and we needed somewhere close by to stay for 2 nights. The Proprietor Tricia, couldnt do enough for us and one of our party were late arriving due to traffic problems, but Tricia was exceptionally accommodating and made us all very welcome. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and welcoming. The beds were extremely comfy and we all slept well. On the day of the Marathon we needed to have breakfast quite early (6.50am) in order to get to the registration for the race and Tricia was more than happy to provide us with a full English breakfast much earlier than the normal breakfast times. There were great views from my sons double room and we only wish we could have stayed longer to see more of the local area. We would certainly recommend this hotel and if my sons run in the Marathon next year (which they are planning on doing) we will certainly consider this hotel again.

Room Tip: Our rooms were all together on the same floor. My sons double room was lovely and light and had gre...

My wife and I spent a week at the Towers and can heartily recommend the place.Tricia is the friendliest host you could wish for and gave us lots of useful info on the town and surrounding countryside. We were fortunate enough to be there when 'Verity' (the 65ft bronze Damien Hirst statue) arrived. It has certainly divided opinions in the town but, whatever your take on it, it is well worth a viewing. You WILL have an opinion, trust me!
The cooked breakfasts were simply brilliant.Cooked perfectly and not a trace of greasiness.Lots of other options too - fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast, smoked haddock, scrambled eggs and poached eggs.
There is plenty of parking space at the Hotel and it is just 10 mins walk down to the town (15 mins coming back). This could be a problem if you are aged or infirmed as it is quite a steep climb.
Only one very small negative - and that is that the shower in our room (No 2) could be unpredictable but usually managed to do the job with a bit of trial and error (as long as no-one turned on the tap to the wasbasin at the same time which caused a swift exit.) Having said that, the views from the en-suite (and living room) are fantastic.
Tricia cleaned the room, made the beds and replenished the tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets every single day.
The lounge and bar were very comfortable with lots of drinks to choose from.
Overall, The Towers Hotel is in the top three of B&B's we have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: We stayed in room No 2. It has the best views over Ilfracombe but is up 4 flights of stairs (just un...

We stayed for a four night break in The Towers (my second visit, the first for my wife). The room (see room tips) was excellent and the views from both the room and bathroom are worthy of particular of mention. Truly outstanding breakfasts (Tricia even made us porridge which was not on the menu), quiet location (but just 10-15 minutes’ walk from the harbour and/or high street), generous sized private car park and value for money. All of this would be enough for a 5 star rating in my opinion but on top of everything else the warmth and friendliness of the hosts Tricia and John from our arrival to reluctant departure was beyond comparison. In addition, Tricia is a mine of information with lots of useful advice on Ilfracombe and the surrounding countryside which stood us in good stead particularly for coastal path walks. Overall, we cannot recommend The Towers highly enough.

I might add that if you are looking for somewhere to eat locally, we can recommend from personal experience The Thatched Inn (5 minutes’ walk towards Ilfracombe) and Helebillies (10 minutes’ walk towards Hele). For a lunchtime break on the coastal path, we recommend The Grampus at Lee (400 yards back from the sea front).

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 2. It is a spacious double room in the highest part of the building with stunning...

We stayed two nights in this great B+B. The room was very bright, tidy and clean. The ensuite was a little small and this meant being able to use the toilet was a little tricky but understandable given the size and age of "The Towers". This did not affect our stay given it was relatively short. The bed was amazingly comfortable - one of the best we have ever been in whilst on holiday!

Tricia is the best host - very friendly, accommodating, informative and extremely welcoming. She was very helpful in sharing information about the area and facts about the upcoming wedding we were attending, accommodating our needs on the day and our queries.

The breakfast was well organised and the views, from both our room, and the breakfast room were stunning. The breakfast times are 8:30-9:15am which is earlier than we normally eat but it meant we were up and ready to enjoy the day!

The location of the towers is brilliant as only 15 mins walk to town/harbour though it is very hilly. So you can definitely work off the calories when indulging in Devon cream teas!

We would definitely stay again if we went back to Ilfracombe.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed two nights in this wonderful B&B. The room and ensuite were immaculately clean and our room was spacious with views across the town and harbour. The breakfast was delicious I can recommend the smoked haddock and the full English was yummy and not one bit greasy! The owners were welcoming and incredibly helpful. I can throughly recommend this B&B and would return if we ever visit again!

Just spent a week holiday at The Towers, one of the best B&B's i've stayed in,clean, good quiet location, fantastic views from the property, great breakfast, and most importantly off road parking a real bonus, only 10-15 mins walk into town, and you could not wish for more helpful hosts than Tricia & John.If you are not very good at climbing hills might be a problem as it is extremely hilly although a taxi from town is £3.90 ( as off July 2012), apart from that great place to stay.

Room Tip: If you want views choose front of property or the turret if you don't mind climbing 3 flight'...
