“Pleasantly Surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

We booked a couple of nights here as somewhere cheap to stay while we attended a wedding in the area, upon arrival we were given a warm welcome and were pleasantly surprised by our room which was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated.
Breakfast on both mornings was lovely and Anne and Hugh couldn't do enough to make sure we had everything we needed.
Would stay here again if we're ever in the area.

Lovely stay in the Acorn Lodge. The owners are very kind and welcoming. Rooms clean, warm and comfortable with nice refreshments, very quiet at night. Breakfast was great ( full english and/or selection of cereals/ fruits/ yoghurts, you were given everything you need and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. Great location. Highly recommended for a charming break in Ilfracombe.

Hello,

We arrived yesterday we were not allowed in untill 2PM in the afternoon.

The women who owns it said hello, gave us our room key and we didnt see/hear from her untill the next morning.

The breakfast was below average, the bacon was still pink, practically un-cooked!

She/he didnt say good morning, we didnt get to know what their names were.

Also when we left they said "oh your not taking the keys with you are you" automatically assuming we were "wrongun's" because my dad looks a little bit rough.

When my dad booked the b&b they said "is your teenage son (19), loud and rude etc because we cant have him here"

YET AGAIN, automatically assuming I/We were "wrongun's"

Pros:

Clean Warm Rooms

Although the other guests we're quite loud running up and down the stairs for part of the night.

The room we was in, the owners lounge was next to it, their tv was quite loud.

Overall it was not a relaxing or comftable stay and we felt "awkward"

Tip to management: Get a new attitude...

Wont be staying again or reccomending to friends.

Cost for this treatment?: £54! for ONE night.

Room Tip: I wouldnt go to this b&b full stop.

we found the acorn lodge a warm friendly place to spend a few day away from our busy lives. It is in a great spot by the harbour, theatre, ect.Anne and Hugh were very attentive hosts , Anne cooked us a hearty breakfast each morning and hugh was a realy good "fetcher and carrier".with a real sense of humour, together they are a good team. Our room was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable 5ft bed.we were able to get out and about all around the north devon coast, so again the position of acorn lodge was perfect.

Room Tip: the only thing i could say was that our room was no6 on the top floor,so was i believe smaller than...

Just returned from a charming stay in Ilfracombe at Anne & Hugh's delightful B&B Acorn Lodge. As mentioned in most reviews here Anne and Hugh are fabulous hosts who remember your names immediately (there were 8 of us !) and can't do enough for you. The breakfasts are great and they will cater to all dietary needs even our fusspot teenagers ! The rooms are of a decent standard and adequate for a short stay and have ensuite facilities if a little cramped in some of the rooms. The location is great and very central for the harbour and walks around the sea front. Some excellent restaurants within walking distance and several friendly pubs also. There is alos a tea room on the ground floor of the B&B with some excellent cream teas and local produce on offer for all. Would visit again for the personal touch, friendliness and convenience. Also excellent value for money.
