“Oh What a Night”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

We found this on Tripadvisor and had the best evening we could ever have imagined. The restaurant is very cosy, with lovely warm - what a gift this couple have for creating a truly welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We asked if there was live music and in no time, Geoff had arranged for a local customer to play the piano for us - Mark was superb - a really gifted pianist who played his own compositions, jazz, blues etc - all for the price of a pint! Chrissy produced a meal that was as good as many we've had in michelin starred restaurants - the local smoked brown trout was sublime (sadly, it was my husband who chose that and he only let me have a mouthful). Gorgeous wine too, on the recommendation of Geoff (who then gave us another glass after we'd paid the bill). Cannot wait to arrange a trip to bring friends back - it was fabulous - thank you all for a truly memorable night (and if you need a taxi to get you there, then A2B taxis were brilliant).

“Bistro in a million”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

The evening we spent there was one in a million, a last minute booking which far exceeded our expectations. We wanted a nice cosy evening with live music to end our week in Ilfracombe and we were not disappointed. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, food enjoyable, wine list second to none (we will be buying some of the excellent viognier that we had that night) and we were entertained with some impromptu guitar playing by the owner and his friend, singing and a lovely lively pianist. Nothing was too much for the host and staff. Especially liked the pink floyd music. None of us wanted the evening to end, but it rounded off an altogether perfect week which had been spent with friends to celebrate a 60th birthday. Hopefully, we will get the chance to go back

“Definitely a one-off....and that's what makes it special”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

A cosy little restaurant and bar on a terrace with fabulous views from the outdoor patio. Lovely menu, affordable prices, and a great cocktail list to choose from! Tricky to find at first unless you have been given directions, well worth the effort though.

“Ian & Jen”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

We stumbled on this little gem by accident, the owners were very friendly and the restaurant was very good. We ate here on two evenings and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The service was friendly and relaxed and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Give it a go as its well worth it. Bistro style restaurant but they sorted lobster for us as a request and it was magnificent. There was a good ambience in the place and we both felt very relaxed, the music was very much to our liking and that always helps. We loved it.

“Great little find just off the beaten path.”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

We were staying in Ilfracombe over the bank holiday jubilee weekend when we stumbled across Eclectick as we searched for somewhere to have a quiet drink. The staff were so welcoming, the atmosphere was so relaxed, and the cocktails were so good that we stayed for hours and found ourselves back again the next day for dinner. The food was delicious and I can highly recommend the chorizo catalan stew. I will definitely make a trip back there next time I'm in North Devon and can highly recommend a visit if you're looking for somewhere nice and quiet to spend a relaxing evening.
