This was my first and last stay at this hotel, The hotel car park charged additional £5.00 a day which only had spaces for 15 cars, yet you can park in the car park oposite in the (winter) for £2.00 a day, The drinks bar was very expensive.
As it was the New year the entertainment was very good, and the food was good.

Room Tip: Dont choose room 325 unless you like a damp and draughty room, after I complain I was given a heater...

First of all, I would like to take the oportunity to wish you a Happy New Year, and also thank you for taking the time to post your comments.
During 2012, we decided to change our car park policy. Our customers, can now book a parking space in advance, which gives them a peace of mind as they do not have to drive around the resort looking for parking spaces when they arrive; as soon as they arrive at the hotel, all they need to do is just park and check in.
We are sorry to hear about your comment regarding the car park and the bedroom, and we hope that will not stop you from travelling to any of the other fantastic destinations that Shearings has on offer, specially during January and February.
We are happy you enjoyed our fantastic entertaiment programme and our food, and I will pass your comments to the staff.
Once again, thank you for your comments and hope to see you again in a near future.

Just had 4 nights with Shearings at the Dilkhusa. Food, room, entertainment all excellent. The staff all very friendly and helpful. Pat looked after us in the dining room and she was an absolute marvel. Would recommend this hotel.

Spent three nights on a Shearings tour.
Reception was very efficient. Given a room that was dark and very cold - but clean with an excellent bathroom.
The food was adequate and the waitress was truly excellent.
Couldn't stand the cold any longer after two nights -one cold afternoon even the inadequate radiator was turned off - so I asked for an extra heater.
All credit to the hotel an extra heater was brought within half an hour. The hotel will say why didn't you ask before? I will say you must have known from previous reviews and should have prevented the necessity for the plea.
The entertainment varied from pleasantly entertaining to very amateurish. (Magician!)
Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay. We have thawed out and wouldn't object to staying there again

As usual with Shearings hotels good & bad points. We were given room 222 & found it dark & looking on to a wall, reception, on request changed our room to 223, much better but it had a terrible en-suite the worst we have had on 12 Shearings holidays. I know that the hotel say that they are redecorating rooms, but they shouldn't let the en-suite go so bad, given half an hour I could have made it a lot nicer.
The reception, lounges & dining room were very good, although the corridors are shabby, which I think cannot be helped, as people bang cases against walls all the time.
The food, was very good nobody we spoke to had a bad word to say about it.
Entertainment was OK. Katie May was good, Jon was a friendly & good host but his magic show, well erm.ermmmmm!!! enough said, & a girl singer on the last night was ok.

The staff are hard working, friendly, top marks here.

We were blessed with super weather this last week end cold but mostly sunny

In summary, Once again, as regulars we know the hotels have faults but the outstanding value of Shearings holidays is superb, & would highly recommend giving Dilkhusa & Ilfracombe a try.

Ventured down to Ilfacombe with National during the very heavy rain and flooding 23rd Nov.need not have worried though. The hotel food was very good as was the service. The room we had 219 was ok nothing to shout home about. The first nights enrertainment singer fun girl Katie May had us all in stitches and her singing wasn't bad also. John the resident Compare disco was good and needs to stick to that until he polishes his MAJIC act[ if he can ]up.The following night another youg singer named Della entertained us for over 2 hours, all in all a very comfortable stay. We also had a very good trip to the beautiful village of Lynmouth and Marcus our driver took us down roads you would think twice about going with your car to get there, well done !
