Had one night here, booked at short notice as a last minute decision to go away for the night. Went with one other family. We booked this hotel after looking at the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. This review is quite tricky to write - the hotel is very much geared towards coach parties and I am sure that, looking at the reviews, it caters very well for them. However, as more independent travellers we found it slightly lacking in some areas. There is a tiny car park around the back, which you would only know about if you asked in reception. There are only about 4 spaces. We got to Ilfracombe a bit earlier than check in time, so had to spend £7 each to park the cars in the car park over the road. The hotel is a big place - we had two family rooms which are on the fourth floor. The lift only goes as far as the third floor (and I wasn't keen to use it anyway as it looked ancient!) It was quite a trek to get to our rooms. The décor is pretty tired and outdated. We noticed on the website that there was a small games room - we think it was the room we found that had a pool table (which was in an awful condition), and you still had to pay 50p a game. The darts board wasn't hanging up and that was it! Our room was perfectly clean and tidy but the TV was the smallest I had ever seen! It was about the same size as the remote control! We noticed that a fair amount of noise travelled between our two rooms (which were next to each other). It was OK for us as we knew the other family but would find it more annoying if we didn't. The evening entertainment seemed to be enjoyed by the coach party - Nick is very good at what he does but not really geared to our age group. We found all the staff very helpful and friendly but one small thing slightly annoyed us - we were stood getting a drink at the tiny bar in the room where the entertainment was, and we decided to stand there for a minute to work out where we could go so that we wouldn't be in anyone's way (as it was packed). A lady who was sat at the bar (we think she may have been the owner?) asked us to move so that others could get to the bar to order drinks. We thought this was a bit of a cheek considering she herself was quite happy to sit at the bar, and we were only there while we worked out where we could go! There was a nice seating area just inside the front door but as previous reviewers have said, it was slightly spoiled by the constant smell of cigarette smoke as people tended to sit right outside the front door to smoke. Breakfast was great - good choice on the menu and Steven, who served our tables, was really friendly, polite and efficient. I would recommend this place as its location is great, staff are friendly and the evening entertainment is very good (but maybe for the slightly older clientele!). Would come back now we know what to expect!

We have just returned from a five day holiday with National Coach Holidays to Ilfracombe. we stayed at the Osbourne Hotel. This is one of the best hotels i have stayed in when holidaying with National. The decor is basic but the rooms are very clean. The food is excellent with a good choice at breakfast and evening meal .The entertainment is very good with some thing to suit everyone. All the staff are very friendly and can`t do enough for you. The Hotel is close to all amenities

Room Tip: Ask for a low floor

Went here in June with national holidays, decor was a bit dated but it was clean. Meals were good and friendly staff. entertainment was not for everybody, although the male voice choir was good. complained about the lumpy mattress and it was changed for us, although my side was still lumpy. Was not far from the beaches and harbour which are both pretty. A welcome cup of tea was awaiting us when we arrived and our cases were taken up to our rooms, they were collected upon our departure aswell. The waiting staff were eager to please and very polite. nothing was too much trouble for them, the food was good but breakfast lacked mushrooms which didnt bother many people, there was more toast on hand if you asked, so overall we enjoyed our stay at the Osborne

me and my husband was staying at the Grosvenor hotel .the entertainment there was very poor. my husband called into the Osborne hotel to find out if there was any entertainment on that evening. he was told there was and we were welcome to go. when we arrived we were made very welcome. the entertainment was excellent. the atmosphere was very good. the bar prices was reasonable. in my opinion this was a clean well organised hotel. me and my husband will definitely be staying there on our next trip to ilfracombe.

Just returned from a weeks tour to the Osborne hotel in Ilfracombe. We arrived June 2 to a huge warm welcome from Sandy. The guests were given a relaxed cuppa whilst the cases were dealt with by the girls YES the girls. Once unloaded i was given my parking pass and proceeded to the coach park. On return i was asked if i would like a cuppa but just wanted to get freshened up. I found my room , very nice double . (unusual for a driver to get a decent room in any hotel).
Dinner was very good, Entertainment was hosted by the Owner Nick (hes a nutter in the nicest sense ) He was always on hand for anything the guests required. Entertainment was provided each evening starting with bingo. A live band, Dancing, Guitar vocalist etc . All the guests on the coach thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The interior or the hotel is very cosy with dark beams and old ilfracombe photos and pictures. In short, everyone including myself were looked after very well . Highly recommend the Osborne for a very warm and friendly relaxed stay.
Well done Nick, Sandy and staff. 43 years and counting. Well Done !!
