“Unexpected find.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

Well now, how do I try to write a report on this Hotel. Wow. Our coach arrived on the Monday tea time and we were met by the owner of the Hotel and all taken for a very welcome cup of tea. We were then given our room keys. The bedroom was quite a good size and the bathroom nearly bigger than the bedroom!! I was told that our bedroom was going to be refurbised in the near future so I cannot comment on that. Everything was spotlessly clean and servicable. The central heating kept is lovely and warm.
The food was really good, and good portions. excellent value. But the best part of the Hotel was the evening entertainment. It was brilliant and everyone was laughing and singing. There is entertainment every evening which is hard to find in Hotels these days. It was just a very enjoyable holiday and I would like to go again. This is a family run Hotel and everyone made sure we all had a good holiday.

I have just returned from a group holiday break at The Osborne Hotel. Generally a good time was had by all.. The hotel decor is a little dated and tired. However, my bedroom was clean and linen spotless. The hotel is family run and has that personal feel to it. There is a waiter/waitress service in the dining room. This was very good as most of our coach group were elderly and prefer to be waited on. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Entertainment was laid on each night...this included bingo, karaoke, singalongs. Our group was fun loving so this added to making the nights enjoyable.....Top marks for Nick the proprietor for his input into the entertainment programme and the male vocalist Alan.

Room Tip: If you prefer a shower in your en-suite make sure that you ask! Not all rooms have this facility. So...

We were booked into this hotel as part of a package. The hotel is basic and a little tired but spotlessly clean. The friendliness of the staff made it feel like a home from home.
Nothing was too much trouble, The staff were always on hand to help.
The Food was like good home cooking and plenty of it.
We would book here again if we were in the area.

Room Tip: Lift is a little old and relies on people closing the door when they get out at the bottom. So you...

stayed at the osbourne for a weekend break fri until sun afternoon .the hotel is what you expect in this country ie old and dated.but the entertainment more than made up for any faults, the room was clean and cleaned daily was fit for purpose you don't spend that much time in your room.meal times were on the dot,ie breakfast was 08.30-09.00 and no later or you missed it a choice of cerials then english breakfast or kippers tea or coffee.dinner was not included in our package so don't know about this.evening meal started at 18.30-1900 and consisted of starter main dessert coffee.all the food was of a satisfactory standard and was enjoyed by most.the managment try their hardest to make you welcome, and will do anything for you the evenings in the bar consisted of an organist or karaoke and again we enjoyed.if your after a fun weekend i recommend it. as far as the host is concernd one of the best i have met .fun stay no complaints...

Room Tip: no lift to the 4th floor and if your on it take the lift to the third and walk the rest.its like cli...

Can't fault the owners, they treat you as one of the family. The hotel could do with a complete overhaul although that would probably spoil the great atmosphere that the owners work so hard to achieve. Great food, comfotable rooms.

Room Tip: Enter this hotel with an open mind. You wont be disappointed

If you are looking to stay in Ilfracombe, look no further than this hotel. The Osborne may not be 5 star and it may be a little tired in places, but you won't find a more welcoming hotel in Ilfracombe.

The Osborne is family run, and you really are made to feel like part of the family if you stay here, nothing is too much trouble. There's a book in all the rooms with the history of Ilfracombe and the hotel and it has all the details of all the members of the family and what they do, we though this was alovely touch, so do take the time to read this it's very interesting.

We stayed half board and I recommend this, such good value for money and all home cooked food, 5 courses!

Whilst we were staying we mentioned that we liked seafood and Nick went out of his way to cook us curried mussles (you have to try them!) and he also cooked a lobster for us which was fantastic, best lobster we have had and we have had a few in the caribbean.

There is entertainment every evening and it's fantastic, Nick has his own band Ad Lib and they are great, we had such a good time and such a laugh, Nick arranges all the entertainment and is such a good front man for the hotel, I don't know how he does it must be knackered!

On our last night there was a male voice choir, we initially thought oh they'll might be a boring, but they were very different than we expected and we had a fantastic night.

Just want to say a big thank you to Nick, Sandie and all the family, also all the staff especially the bar man Neil, as we spent alot of time propping up the bar!

As Arnie says we will be back

Big Al & Ali xxx
