What an amazing find! The house just does not want to let you go.Fabulous fun with Roger and Jenny. Excellent hosts. the room was absolutely wonderful with subtle charm. Cool and reflective after manically surfing. Tranquility personified!
Now as for the food WELL FORGET THE FULL ENGLISH WHICH IS WONDERFUL JUST GO STRAIGHT FOR THE FRUIT AND YOGHURT!!!!!! There are so many wonderful options for breakfast we needed to stay for longer. Beautiful house in a superb setting and easy to get to incredibly interesting places. Beaches with great surf, historic castles, wonderful country pubs with excellent food for dinner, great ice cream and best of all the WARMEST FRIENDLIEST HOSTS with a WONDERFUL HOUSE.
Just wanted to say thanks so much for having us BEWARE we will return .;) :) :) :) :)

Had two nights here, perfect location for Woolacoombe and Ilfracombe, hidden away of main road in a valley. Hotel had lots of character and charm, with small bar area down stairs, ideal for getting together with other guests and host. Roger and Jenny make you fell very welcome and always available if needed. Our room was on top floor, with en-suite. Room was cosy and clean, with tea and coffee facilities. You choose what you have for breakfast the night before, we had full English breakfast, delicious, but other choices are available.
Will certainly return for another stay.

My partner and I stayed for two nights at Score Valley. We found the hotel with ease thanks to google maps and previous knowledge from visits to the area. The hotel was very pretty and in a lovely peaceful location, just what was needed considering the week before we had been at a very busy Butlins!!! The common areas were a little chilly, however as we were the only guests on the second night we could appreciate the fact that it was cost effective for the owners to do this. The room was lovely and clean, well serviced, warm and comfy. The bar was opened with no fuss and we were left to enjoy our drinks and play a game or two. Our dog was welcome to stay at the hotel and as she howled the first morning we left her for breakfast she was 'allowed' to lay on her bed outside the dining room!!! Not many places would let you do that!!! The walk to town is a bit of a trek (unless you are a regular rambler) and it is just as easy to drive (25 minutes walk verus. 3 minutes drive??!!) Can't wait to book again for the summer and see just how pretty the garden is then!!

Room Tip: We had room 2 which could be a double or twin. Perfect size, nice view.

We are very grateful for your very generous review. This area lends itself perfectly to walking dogs as, apart from our own land, there are pleasant walks down the lane to Bicclescombe Park or across the Cairn Nature Reserve opposite. We sincerely hope that if you are able to come we will be able to provide a much warmer welcome and are sorry it was so chilly in Devon when you came.

We stayed for two nights as we were in the area for a friends wedding. The house is a little off the beaten track but I think the same can be said of most of the accomodation in the area.

The hosts were polite and friendly from the start, serving very cheap drinks in the evening and a lovely breakfast.

The room was spotless, warm and a comfy bed was just what we needed.

A very pleasant, comfortable hotel, clean and welcoming, in beautiful grounds. Breakfast very generous and beautifully cooked and presented. The only drawback was it was cold but the temperatures outside were raw and once you crank up the heater in your room you soon get warm, plus a blanket and hot water bottle are provided. This does not reflect on the standard of accommodation though - the owner cannot help the freezing weather. I would like to visit again in the warmer weather to fully appreciate the surroundings, and in all likelihood will, nd would recommend to friends and family..

We stayed for only three nights, but had a wonderful time. Although ti is called a "hotel", it really is a B&B guesthouse. It is located in a valley - as the name suggests - and although not walking distance from the town, it is near enough - a short drive!. Unfortunately we had a room without an en-suite bathroom - but we enjoyed our stay. I will definately recommend Score Valley Country House to my friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with en-suite bathroom.

We are very grateful to Eulogia for her generous comments and would just like to pick up on the points she has raised. We have only one room which, due to its location within the property, is not possible to be made En-suite. This room has a dedicated lockable bathroom nearby. The benefit of this is that it does make it a very spacious room which we sell at a lower price. In all publicity material we do our utmost to highlight that it only has a private bathroom but unfortunately this is not always noted. If any guests are caught out by this we are pleased to provide bathrobes. We can only strongly recommend that when booking for any property guests carefully read the specification of a room before finalising to avoid disappointment.
The valley is concealed to the side of the main St Brannock's Road entry to Ilfracombe and although it appears to be in the middle of nowhere is in fact a safe pleasant walk down the lane via Bicclescombe Park into town. Again, of course, this can be very subjective as one person's leisurely stroll can be another's good walk.

The beauty of doing this is that we get to meet so many wonderful people and really appreciate all the kind feedback we have received. Just to clarify that we have only started taking small to medium dogs this year on request and this has proved very successful as there are many pleasant walks nearby. In case of any concerns our own dog does not go into the hotel and stays in our own garden when guests are present but if anybody would like to meet him he is very friendly and loves a cuddle.
