“Value for money”
Reviewed May 17, 2010

My Husband and myself have just returned from a long weekend's stay at the Duke of Gordon. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and couldn't do enough, food was lovely, room was large and clean with a lovely 4 post bed. Down sides are it is a little bit shabby in places and could do with some TLC i.e new carpets and a lick of paint but i certainly wouldn't let this put me off staying there again.

I am a golf professional and have taken many groups of golfers up to theHighlands for golfing trips, staying at the Duke of Gordon .The hotel made us very welcome and made all the golf arrangements for us which made life particularly easy.At the same time
both the staff and food were excellent and i would have no hesitation in returning to the
hotel when i next visit the Highlands.

We really enjoyed this break and the hotel. Staff were Excellent couldn't do enough for us.
My wife is Gluten Free and she was well catered for most of the meals she could eat which is rare in a lot of Hotels usually there are ony a few to choose from. Well done to all the staff.

This is a wonderfull hotel but the highlight for me was the staff, a truly remarkable group of people who genuinely want to please. If available I can recomend the deer safari, you will be amazed at the number of wild stag that they can find.

After reading the other reviews, I felt it fair to write my own. In short, I have nothing but praise for the Duke of Gordon and staff. Staying in the hotel proved to be a pleasurable experience and we were made to feel like "guests" rather than bums on seats.

The room was clean and upto all standards, that I expected. Breakfast was hearty and prompt and I enjoyed the evening meal too. The large amounts of space at the hotel, gave it a grand feel and the setting was excellent for groups wanting to see the amazing area. I'll certainly be back.

The hotel is basic, you might as well stay at a Travelodge. The food is not as advertised on the website, at least it wasn't for our tour. The management were rude and spoke down to guests. When the heating broken down they didn't even have an extra blanket per guest.
In my opinion stay at the Star much better value and lovely food.

my partner and i travelled with a large group to enjoy a festive break.some 56 of us travelled and im afraid it just had to be my partner and i that wre put into a nice enough bedroom but with one big problem.we were staying in room 424 which is an annexe and on the middle floor.nightmare the floorboards creaked so loud both in our room and rooms above.im not sure who slept above us but they certainly were early risersand for the three mornings we stayed we were awoken at 4am by continuous pacing of the floor above us meaning it was impossible to sleep at all.i complained to reception but as no other rooms were available we had to suffer this problem until we ended our stay.avoid this section at all costs as we did not pay good money to have to endure sleepless nights.i must mention none of our fellow travellers suffered this problem but they all stayed in main building.i must admit though the hotel is very nice with staff so eager to please very efficient and if management could promise me a quiet room then both myself and partner would return
