“Thank you Duke of Gordon and Cairngorm Travel”
Reviewed December 15, 2011

we visited for on our first ever coach holiday August 2011 including a trip to the Edinburgh Tattoo. The coach was unavoidably delayed on the Motorway but the staff were ready for our arrival and our meal was ready for us and very much appreciated. The staff and service could not have been better throughout our stay - having a packed lunch for the Tattoo we only expected coffee and biscuits on our return - but were pleased and surprised by a hot dish of stovies waiting for us with smiling staff at well after 1am. The room was comfortable and had all facilities and a good view of the Cairngorms. All of the meals were excellent and between coach outings we enjoyed some of the local walks. We have booked to go back in February for another break and would recommend the hotel and coach company to anyone.

I stayed at this Hotel in April 2010,i know it seems sometime ago but i just had to write a review, this Hotel is FIRST CLASS,the food was just great and staff were all friendly, the location is just perfect, you have Inverness only half an hour drive away,Aviemore and the Cairngorms are just a small drive away,we also visited the Highland Wildlife Park it was brilliant i was able to see Mercedes the polar bear but sadly it has died since then. You have Fort William a very nice drive also.I would recommend this Hotel to everyone, seeing is believing.I hope to come back in the near future as they have new polar bear and also to taste the good food.

Room Tip: all rooms are good.

I am so pleased you had such an enjoyable break with us here in the Highlands. It would appear that you manageed to get the last of the dry spell and warmer autumn weather we have been experiencing.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Duke of Gordon again in the future.

We stayed 2 nights on a special (living social). We had a small mix-up at reception when we arrived - they tried to put us in a room with 2 singles when we'd booked a double. We did get it sorted out.
Other than the room being a bit small and dark, the room was clean and everything else was fine.
The staff was very accomodating and attentive - nice folks, generally.
Food and drink was acceptable.
We didn't realize the Hotel was a major stopping place for Coaches....which meant crowds at dinner, etc.
All and all it was an OK stay.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Duke of Gordon Hotel. It is reasuring to know that the reception team managed to re assign your room to a double room, the Hotel has a limited number of double bedded rooms which we allocate as bookings are received. Most of the larger hotels in the area take coach holiday parties which is a necessity to ensure the on going sucess of the business and adds to the overall atmosphere of the hotel. I trust you had a safe and pleasant journey home and we lookforward to welcoming you to the highlands again in the future.

We have just returned from a most enjoyable two night stay in the very comfortable and welcoming Duke of Gordon Hotel in Kingussie. The hotel situation is perfect for touring the Speyside area and the Cairngorm National Park and if you have not yet visited the Scottish Wildlife Park we strongly recommend that you do so. Michele at reception was very helpful and knowledgeable about all the local areas of interest. Loch Morlich and it's extensive sandy beach is to be seen to be believed and the backdrop of autumn colour throughout this area proves there is no need to travel to New England for stunning scenary in the Fall.
The hotel puts on entertainment each evening and we were lucky to be there for the Halloween
Highland Banquet with all staff dressed up in Halloween attire and a piper to pipe us in to dinner.
We will no doubt visit the area again soon and will stay in this lovely hotel and are happy to recommend it.

Room Tip: Corner rooms with views to the side and front e.g. 426

Thank you for taking the time to review the Duke of Gordon Hotel.

It is reasuring to know that you felt welcome and enjoyed your experience in the hotel. where possible we do celebrate occations throughout the year and the staff always like to get into the spirit of theme nights. It all adds to the family atmosphere and the guest experience. I trust you will visit us again in the not too distant future.

I apologise that the previous General Managers name appears at the top of this responce. Unfortunatly to alter the name we would need to re-register, this would result in all of the reviews being deleted. Thank you again for your review and comments about the National Park and the special place that is the Highlands of Scotland.

This is the Second Visit to the Duke of Gordon Hotel as part of a break with Cairngorm Travel and like last time I had a great time. The team go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The hotel staffs always have a smile. A great touch is as the coach leave the staff come out to wave you off. The management are on hand if you need anything and they come over to chat. They make you feel like part of the family. The food is very good. It’s great that free entertainment is on at night. This was booked as a package to so travel and trips out was part of the package. This also was first class. Great days off even when the weather was not too good. The coach driver Ali was very knowledgeable and a credit to the company. Keep up the good work and thanks to everyone for a great time.

I have eaten twice at this hotel recently and was not happy with the standard of the meals when delivered to the table.
The first time I had chicken tikka masala and there was no seasoning at all on the chicken or in the sauce.
The second time I ate their was only last Thursday and I ordered a burger and chips. The plate was cold the 10 chips were barely warm and the burger was also lukewarm.
I complained to the staff who were not very apologetic or very helpful. I would advise that visitors should avoid the Bar Meals as I heard later that the meals in the main restaurant were very good.
I didn't stay at the hotel but visited for a meal.
It must be the same chef cooking the Bar Meals so they are letting the hotel down by not delivering hot tasty meals to the bar.

Thank you for taking the time to place your review. Thank you for bringing the matter to my attention and would assure you that this is by no means our usual standard of service.
I regret that you had a less than memorable experience when you dined in the Ghillies Rest Lounge. It is rare that we receive less than favourable comments from our guests and traveling customers. As I have mentioned in previos replies our dishes are not heavily seasoned allowing guests to add further seasoning if they wish. Seasoning of all food is very much a personal taste. with regard to your second meal I can only apologise that the team member did not apologise to you. I understood that the final bill had been discounted and an apology received. Thank you for bringing the matter to my attention and would assure you that this is by no means our usual standard of service. It is always very important to receive constructive comments in order that we can maintain our standards and our customer satisfaction. We assure you of our best intentions at all times.

Kind Regards
