Just back from the Start Hotel, Kingussie, we go at least once a year, this is the bargain of the century, and not to be missed, the staff are very freindly and helpfull, the food is good and the rooms are clean, what more do you want.
We paid £59pn, bed breakfast evening meal, and on the sat night there is 6 course banquet, with the haggis piped in!

Its sad to see its on the market, though do hope that who ever takes it on keep the same market strategy, as it seems to work, always an assortment of different people when we go.
I am unsure were else they advertise, but we get it out of the Sundy post.

Have just arrived home from a 5 night stay. Had a fantastic time:
- staff couldn't be more helpful
- hotel in brilliant location for lots of different visits
- food very good-never went hungry and a very good choice!!
- rooms are basic but very clean so that's the most important thing!!

Can't wait for our next visit!!!!

this was our second trip to the star hotel, and it wont be the last. as usual the standard of the hotel was fantastic, the food, cleanliness of the rooms and the staff were fabulous.
unfortunately on the second day of our 5 night holiday my dad took ill, during the course of the week he got worse.on our last night he was so ill i had to go to reception to ask for help in finding a doctor. the receptionist, tanya was fantastic, she couldnt do enough to help us. a doctor arrived fairly quickly to see my dad and give him medication to help with the pain he was in. tanya and paul the head waiter couldnt do enough to help myself, husband and dad with anything we needed, nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff, and that is why i felt i had to write my first ever review of a holiday as having travelled to many places nothing beats the hospitality of the star hotel, thankyou again for not only looking after my dad, but us also as a holidaying family

Stayed in hotel for a short break Friday and Saturday.Reception were very helpful.Room clean and stocked with everything we could have needed.Food in dining hall was excellent quality and quantities were enormous.Waiting staff were very pleasant and efficient and kitchen staff speedy as meals were out very quickly. Our only complaint was the service in the bar.On more than one occasion there was no one serving as the barmaid was out in back area smoking. There were no procedures for hand washing afterwards and as a non smoker I objected to being served by someone who was smelling heavily of smoke. At one point a group of 6 came into the bar for a drink and left shortly afterwards as there was no one to serve them. Not counting the bar service it was an excellent break at a very reasonable cost.
