Great rooms, however the amount of food on the plate does not justify paying £174 per night. Bloody Mary £11 come on. Had lamb as a main course and had 4 pieces about the size of a 10 pence piece. Small starter and pudding and that was£55
Buck your ideas up

Room Tip: Sleep here, but eat out

This was our second stay at the Cross, our last stop on a mostly west coast jaunt.

And I have to say we thought it better than our previous visit. Dunno if it was our choices at dinner but the food was improved on the previous very high standard - we started this trip at The Peat Inn in Fife, which has a Michelin star, and the food here would not have been out of place there.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay, especially the feisty red squirrel laid on for our entertainment (see photo).

Room Tip: Room 4, with a small balcony over-looking the burn, is the one to go for.

Small town away from the hustle and bustle of the city but beautiful area with wonderful walking tracks not far away. Our room was fantastic and the sitting area was just wonderful. Would definitely stay again. Breakfast was lovely the owners have lots of info on the local and surrounding areas.

Having always looked for an excuse to eat here, the opportunity came for an overnight stay en route to the far north of Scotland which we hope to repeat in the future. The evening meal lived up to our expectations, the room was well appointed and with the secluded rural location of the hotel had a delightful view over the stream, with red squirrels around. Especially memorable was the breakfast, with among the best scrambled egg and smoked salmon we have had, but many other dishes, and a variety of croissants, jams and marmalades.

Very nice place, well located to visit the surrounding highlands.

Located in the highland village of Kingussie in the Cairngorms , good base for Cairngorms area visit.

Don't miss Blair Castle !!!

Room great, location fantastic on top of a stream. Food is phenomenal, gourmet in all aspects.

Owners are very friendly and helpful.

You can walk right out into nature, beautiful trails around the hotel. You can also walk to the village.

Great place, recommended.

Room Tip: Car, taxi or guide recommended to visit Cairngorms sites, We recommend Ronnie Owens of Bespoke Highland Car Tours Tel 07979-412831
