This was a lovely place tucked away in Kingussie. The owner makes you feel very welcome. There is a restaurant on premise for dinner. The food was excellent. This is a great place to stay if you want a central location. It is one hr from Inverness and 1.5hrs from Fort William. The room was clean and charming. Had a lovely sitting room off the dining room with a fireplace.Highly recommend.

As part of a circle trip around the Highlands, our 3 nights in Kingussie at the Columba House were the best of any place we stayed. Both the facilities and the friendly and helpful owners' hard work made it so. The room was clean and spacious, my wife liked the bathroom the best of any on our trip; I liked the bed, furniture and cozy room atmosphere. I was sick when we arrived but recovered quickly in the quiet and comfortable room. Breakfast was so delicious, to the point I ate way too much. The hotel has a very atmospheric sitting room, and the dining area looks out on a lovely garden about the size of 2 tennis courts. We loved and highly recommend the Columba House in Kingussie, a great value and memorable experience.

We stayed here for two nights in September having made our booking in May with the previous owners. I'm sure they had a wonderful business, but we would like to say that the new couple were everything you'd want from a host & hostess. The accommodation was lovely - more like a private lodge than a hotel or B&B. The décor could be updated (and probably will be), but it was very homely and clean. We were bowled over by the food - the new owner also being the chef - and the restaurant looked to be very busy with locals, visitors and residents alike on the nights we were there. Columba House itself is set back from the road and up on a slope. The approach to it is not picturesque, but the house itself is quite secluded with a lovely garden and ample parking. If you're looking for a very comfortable stay with five star dining, we would happily recommend Columba House.

During my combined hunting and sightseeing trip to scotland I stayed for 5 days in the Columba hotel in Kingussie. I was warmly welcomed by the owner and got a very nice and quiet room. The breakfast was good with a nice selection and especially the dinner was excellent including starter, main and desert as part of the full boarded accommodation. I would definitely come back if I do another trip here to Scotland.

We went to the Columba House Hotel for a short break in August 2013. We received a very warm welcome from Mark on arrival and the room we had was just lovely. A huge soft bed and nice furniture with a nice sized en-suite bathroom. We were booked in to have the 6 course taster menu which we had on the second night of our stay the first night we ate from the normal menu both nights the food was superb. The breakfasts are just as good and everywhere in the hotel is spotless. The bar is well stocked and has an ever growing collection of fine malts.

We cant wait to go back for another visit and were very very sorry to say goodbye to Mark and Yolanda.

Room Tip: We loved our room with its view over the mountains.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in the 'Penthouse' suite. With a lovely view of the very well kept garden. The room was clean and very comfortable. We had the 6 course taster menu, which was great value for money, and all fresh local produce. The bacon served at breakfast was the best quality we have had in a very long time. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Room Tip: The manager is very helpful and will let you see the rooms

Stayed in July 2013 with my girlfriend for her birthday. Had a Groupon voucher which made it very good value and paid a little more for the penthouse room. Penthouse may be a little over stated but room was clean, very nice and had a lovely large bath tub. Room needs just a little bit of maintenance so sort out the slightly broken blinds but not a major issue at all.

Bottle of wine at check in was requested to be taken at dinner instead and the owner was very nice and obliged. Dinner was very pleasant; especially the main course of brisket which we enjoyed very much and the dining room is a cosy little place to eat.

We had a nice long lie in the morning after sampling the local Kingussie pub the night before but was slightly startled when someone came in to our room (to clean I would imagine) without chapping the door or any warning.

Returned from dinner on the Saturday evening to have a few drinks to find the bar shut at 10.30 but we had a bottle of wine in the room anyway so no big issue. Breakfast both days was very nice and the couple who own the hotel are extremely pleasant and very welcoming.

Would return to try one of the other rooms!
