Description: The Laird's House is just stones throw from one of the great walks in the area. The laird's house is open for teas and coffee's with a selection of cakes and scones. We offer an informal lunch and slightly more formal Dinner. Ross in the kitchen is very proud of our steaks and takes great pleasure in specially selecting our beef. We are open Monday and Tuesday 9am-5pm, Wednesday to Saturday inclusive 9am-11pm and Sunday 10am-5pm

We ate at The Lairds House on the 26th January when it was cold, driech and surrounded by snow. Inside however, was a warm welcome. There was a choice of menu, either the January set menu or the full menu. Both had an equally good choice. The lentil soup was delicious and just what you need on a winters night. The proper steak and ale pie was Devine! Beautifully tender meat, loads of delicious gravy and lovely light and crisp pastry. My husband ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas. He said the fish was lovely and fresh and it's the first time he has enjoyed mushy peas! Service was very good and the restaurant had a really nice buzz about it. All in all great food at reasonable prices: a very enjoyable experience. We will return.

This was our first visit to the Laird's House following it's renaissance under new management. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our previous visits, we much preferred the more relaxed atmosphere in the place on this occasion. The menu seems to be rather more extensive than before. We both ate from the 3 course fixed price lunch menu, which gave exceptionally good value for money. Each course we had was well pesented, well cooked and generous. The bread and butter pudding was truly the lightest one I have ever tasted. You could almost swear there were no calories in it.......... The wine was good and reasonably priced. We had to ask for water, but that was hardly a hardship. I do hope that more folk discover the place as the large open space cries out for lots of diners to provide more of an atmosphere. The chap in charge was excellent at jollying us all along - he must be exhausted by the end of the day. All in all a really positive experience and I think we will return often both for casual coffees (and scones!)and meals. .

Visited the Lairds House today for lunch and just have to say that it was absolutely perfect. The menu available was extensive, from soups and starters to begin with right through to the desserts,it gave plenty of choice for every taste. We both opted for The macaroni which was lovely and creamy, with tasty garlic bread to accompany it, followed by the most delightful sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream for one of us and tasty bread and butter pudding With home made custard for the other, could not fault it at all, the service from all members of staff was first class, with staff enquiring more than once to see if everything was all right. Definitely will return and would be happy to recommend The Lairds House to anyone.
