After having a failed trip to the Isle of Wight zoo, this one is definitely the place to go to. Lots to see and perfect for the whole family, friendly staff. Excellent!

We have been to Amazon World many times and think the people who have written the last two comments must have been to a different zoo. We were there at the beginning of February and saw Sloths, Anteaters, Monkeys, Armadillo’s, Tapirs and many more beautiful animals. Considering the atrocious weather that Amazon World have had to contend with we thought the zoo was amazing and we told the staff on our departure. So we only assume due to the cold and wet weather that the animals were being very sensible and were staying in their houses. We will be back and supporting Amazon World when we come again at Easter. Keep up the good work and don't let these ridiculous comments get you down.

“Fantastic day out”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

We visited Amazon with our family in early February and had a great day. This was our first visit to Amazon World and we thought what an amazing place it was and, considering the bad weather, we saw a variety of very unusual animals. All the keepers we spoke to were very friendly and helpful answering any questions our children had, we will definitely be back.

“What a waste of time”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

This zoo doesn't deserve to be called a zoo. More like a 'cockroach farm' - ok fair enough I visited in winter. In the rain. Bur still some actual animals would be good. The entire first part of the zoo was EMPTY. I mean it. Empty. Not one animal. The second part with the fish were just coy carps. A couple of turtles. Then into the snake area - there was a power cut so couldn't even see the snakes. The bat cave is good for about half a second when you realise there's about 5 bats in there and how cruel it is there hitting off the glass constantly. The cafe. Now here's a laugh. Bin bags covering equipment up. The coffee machine had actual rust all over it. £1.20 for a small can of coke. And I got told feel free to turn the heater on. - I looked at the heater which made me laugh. It was more rust and dust than anything else. A pathetic fan heater sitting on the folding tables. The entire place was freezing cold leaking everywhere. It has the roofs and buildings of kilns with plants in them. Plastic flat roof scaffolding support.

“Where are the animals??!”
Reviewed February 6, 2014 via mobile

On arrival the place seemed dead which is fair enough as it is out of season (February). On entering the building it didn't raise any hopes though as it seems pretty run down. £9 each seemed rather expensive for a zoo where 90% of the enclosures had zero animals to be seen. We encountered a power cut half way walking through a dark room with snakes etc in and couldn't even finish looking at them as we couldn't see!! A lot of the roofs were leaking and the place was freezing cold. The gift shop roof was leaking all over the carpet. Trying to warm up we went to the cafe afterwards for a hot brew but was not impressed as the room was freezing and decrepit so just decided to make our way back to the car. On leaving I decided to use the ladies which were not very clean, again cold and some taps and drier was not working. I would say a wasted journey and definitely not worth trying to save a rainy day with. Save your money!
