“Loved it!”

What a lovely place!
Was so much better than I was expecting! They have a very wide selection of animals and was great to see them doing the upmost for them all! Staff were very friendly and answered any questions we had! Didn't mind the price I paid once I got in :) we spent a good 3 hours here and could of probably stayed more! Would definitely return for a second visit!

“Saviour of a wet New Years Day!”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

We'd decided to stay in the Isle of Wight for New Year, which is a fantastic place for a family, like us, with young children. Though when it's Winter, and it's wet, there's a limited number of indoor places to go. We had planned to go to the beach, or maybe Ventnor Botanic Gardens, but the new year greeted us with high winds and lashing rain. Quick, to the backup plan!

We arrived at Amazon World to a car park full of puddles, still raining and were greeted with a friendly welcome from the lady on reception. My kids loved the zoo, it was well run with a good selection of animals. Every animal seemed well cared for, some had been rescued from other zoo. Some, like the iguanas had from from HM Customs and Excise after being confiscated.

It was a great place to spend a couple of hours, on a non wet spring or summer day the well stocked playground outside would mean that we could have happily spent half a day there.

This zoo deserves to be supported and deserves to do well.

Oh, and don't miss 'The Tomb' for their stunning bat collection. Really well done and amazing to see.

Thank you Amazon World for keeping my kids entertained when Mother Nature had kept us indoors!

“Not as warm as the Amazon..”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

We live on the island, and visit Amazon world at least once a year. New years eve, cold and rainy where could we go for warmth and enjoyment of lots of animals? Amazon world. On previous visits the entrance fee would offer island residence discount, no they don't do this any more, you have to look out for tokens in the local paper. Anyway, its always a nice few hours out, and always lovely and hot, perfect way to cheer up a cold, damp day....we entered the glass house, it was very very cold, in fact the whole place was cold, leaking roofs and really needing updating, and being winter a third of the animals not there, shouldn't this be reflected in the price? We made the most of it and looked around every area. Some development work has been done, but I would prefer to see existing exhibition to be renovated. However, lovely well kept animals, eating lots of yummy crunchy carrots.

“Great little zoo.”
Reviewed December 1, 2013 via mobile

Undergoing upgrades when we visited but a good way to spend a few hours. Basic but good. Staff friendly and helpful. Not an all day visit as not big but well worth a visit.

“Terrific experinence, we all enjoyed it”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

A small zoo where you can pet the lemurs(!) who are free to sit on you. We started with a simple cafe lunch which was fine, above average cafe food. I thought the entrance of nearly £10 per adult was on the high side but considering the cost of feeding all the animals it probably is not unreasonable. Very nice helpful staff. We spent about three hours there.
