We needed a break & chance to relax together. The ferry was booked for us and very friendly staff at hotel. Room very comfortable, food excellent and staff very helpful.
The outside pool was a real gem, lovely and warm with great jacuzzi.
Will visit again and have recommended to family & friends.

Room Tip: No lifts as several IOW Hotels. Well away from seafront so very quiet.

My daughter who had previously visited Melville had recommended I should sample the wonderful food and Spa facilities that were on offer in an extremely good value Short Break. I have nothing but praise for the welcoming Staff and their continued hospitality. Although the Hotel is rather dated, it is clean and comfortable and offers the use of an indoor and outdoor pool along with Jacuzzis , so the choice is yours depending on the weather. The service in the Restaurant could not be faulted as with the quality selection of food at dinner and breakfast. All in all a very pleasant experience and one which I will recommend to my friends and hope to return myself again one day.

We visited on a travel zoo deal and found the hotel just as expected. The room was nice food lovely and amenities more than acceptable. My only small gripe was the service at dinner at little slow but certainly not anything to worry about. I would have no qualms about recommending the hotel to others and will more than likely return myself.

Having spotted this hotel through a Travelzoo offer, we booked with relatively low expectations given some of the previous reviews. The stay itself proved to be great value for money, and with a few small changes the hotel would be excellent in every regard.

Immediately upon checking in it is noticeable the hotel has invested much time and effort into modernisation. The staff were friendly at reception, and the Spa/Pool areas were excellent, with an outdoor and indoor pool, Jacuzzis and Sauna facilities. The appearance of a large fishtank further countered some of our preconceptions it would be a hugely dated hotel!

The room itself was adequate, with a hair dryer, iron and tea/coffee making facilities amongst the amenities. One minor criticism was the lack of available space to leave luggage, albeit there was a wardrobe and draws available. The room we stayed in faced the front of the hotel and had no noise at all.

The biggest area of criticism was the speed of service at dinner, although it was recognised that staff illness may have contributed towards this. The food was of decent enough standard, although we would have resented paying the listed price for it. The delay of 40 minutes between starter and maincourse, with no explanation nor genuine apology, was not really befitting of a hotel striving to portray excellence however. That said this was a one off occurrence, and the full English breakfast was a speedy and tasty affair.

Overall the hotel was good. Sandown is not the most desirable area on the Island, but is well situated for getting about. The hotel was clean and functional, and had a couple of great added extras with the spa facilities. For the Travelzoo price it was a real bargain, if one is to pay full price however it would be nice if a bit more effort could be made on the evening meal experience, and possibly more of a concession to storage space in the bedrooms.

All in all I was pleased and would stay again or recommend this hotel.

Having booked this Break via a travellzoo link,i was really surprised at the tremendous value this hotel offered in the package. It is well situated a short walk from Sandown Pier/Town centre, and the room we got was leading on from the original to the newer extension, and had steps down into a very good size Bathroom. The hotel was clean and tidy, with very friendly and helpful staff, the food was also of excellent standard, with a good choice available, and friendly efficient staff to serve it in the pleasant dining room which overlooked the sun terrace and swimming pool which was nice and warm when we tried it.There is also an outside Jacussi, and an indoor fitness centre with another jacussi, sauna and plunge pool. The bar prices were very good even cheaper than the local pubs/bars in some cases. We used the hotel as a base to visit other areas on the island, and really enjoyed our holiday there. With ferry crossings included superb value.

Room Tip: Good view from the front.

We spent three days at Melville Hal Hotel at the beginning of July. We had a two day mini break and added another night B & B. We found this hotel through travelzoo and our break included free ferry. We enjoyed a nostalgic trip round the island even though the weather was dull and even foggy in parts!! Sunshine on the day we left which showed the best of Sandown. The hotel was clean and the pools and Jacuzzis were inviting. A good choice of menu and we enjoyed all the food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hopefully we will return one day and would certainly recommend it.

Room Tip: The hotel was full and the only room left was a superior room which we paid a little extra for. The...
