“Excellent value for money”

Like many other reviewers my boyfriend and I took advantage of the recent Travelzoo deal and were very pleased with our stay.

The only downside was that the resort itself was absolutely dead in the evenings - every pub and restaurant was pretty much deserted. Not the fault of the hotel, and we did go in March, but a shame.

We were on a romantic break, but had I been there on a hen weekend or with a group I think I would have found the hotel a bit quiet and the other guests a little more "senior" in age.

I recently visited the Isle of Wight for the first time. This hotel was very comfortable and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I stayed as part of a Travelzoo deal and it ended up being a very good way to visit the beautiful island. The food was very good although the dinner service was quite slow. The deal also included two spa services. The facial was brilliant but the mini-pedicure only involves nail polish, nothing else. The outdoor hot tub was very nice. The beds in the room were very comfortable and the bathroom looked recently updated. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Isle of Wight. It is not far to walk into the main part of town and apparently there are buses that run very near. The hotel staff is very helpful and really made our stay pleasant.

I found a deal via Travelzoo for a two night break at Melville Hall Hotel with the option to extend for a night (or more). We actually extended by one night. The deal included the ferry to the Isle, three sessions in the spa and a full meal on the first night, and a bottle of wine in the room.
On arrival the staff were pleasant and helpful. We'd arrived earlier than expected but had our room ready after we'd waited about 15 minutes which was more than fair. The room was a standard one, which was very roomy but with old fashioned free standing wardrobes. It was all very clean. The only fault we found was the bottom seal of the shower screen leaked which we lessened by putting it in a little over the bath.
We had been phoned shortly after booking enquiring which spa treatments we'd like. My wife has a manicure, pedicure and a face wrap. I just settled for a head massage. The leisure centre consisted of a sauna, two de-tox cabinets which are infra red saunas, a jacuzzi and a small pool. The sauna was fine but we found the light had failed after the first day and no-one had sorted that out. The pool had, I think, too much chlorine as my eyes were sore after a short swim. I agree with a comment below that there should be, at least, clothes optional sessions.(But as the light was out in the sauna perhaps an advantage in that direction), not that I actually shared the sauna which illustrated it was large enough for the complex.
The meal we had was first class. Coffee was available as were newspapers. They had a real ale pump but the ale was off so we went to a nearby local pub which had a little more atmosphere than a hotel lounge/bar. The hotel could do with more parking spaces.
I was not disappointed and would use this hotel again.

I booked a 3 day mid-week stay to include 2 Spa treatments each from Travelzoo. This was a surprise 60th birthday trip for myself and my husband. We couldn't have been treated nicer by the staff who helped the occasion by getting a cake and a '60' balloon for my husband. On the evening of his birthday the restaurant staff were absolutely brilliant ending with everyone singing Happy Birthday to him. The Spa girls were very professional and made us feel very special. Yes the Hotel is a bit dated, but this is the Isle of Wight and most of the Hotels are dated, you get what you pay for, and if you go with an open mind and a determination to be nice and to enjoy yourself, what could be better.

We got a special offer on a two night stay from travelzoo which was great and seemed like a real bargain. Should we have paid full price I would have been quite disappointed. The leisure facilities are not adequate, tiny pool about 4 meters long, small jacuzzi, only 2 very uncomfortable loungers around the pool. Would be alot better in the summer when the outside pool is open. Room was very old fashioned, small, but very clean, very squeaky bed and floors. Walls were very thin, you don't need to be making too much noise to disturb people. Food was fabulous but service at meal times and breakfast was a bit haphazzard. Definately not a 4 star spa residence.

Visited this hotel with my husband for a birthday treat at the end of January, the hotel itself was lovely and the spa facilities small but adequate for us, we had booked a special deal which included two complimentary spa treatments which i promptly booked when upgrading our room and paying the extra money. When we arrived at the hotel they told us they had no record of our spa treatments being booked and were fully booked so we couldn't have our treatments!! but strangely they had the upgrade and payment on record, we never received any discount or money back when we complained and i found the customer service lacking to say the least. Our superior room was lovely but the bathroom was very dated and could do with a little care and attention. The restaurant was lovely and the food first class although we did have the same menu 3 days in a row!! the breakfast was less impressive and i would avoid the poached eggs (raw!!!). The staff were a bit chaotic trying to do to many jobs at once and there seemed to be a lack of leadership. I would recommend this hotel but get any bookings spa or otherwise sent in writing!!!!

Room Tip: Book a superior room our fellow guests were very unhappy with the basic ones.

The hotel is in nice location and is picturesque. There are parts of this hotel which are very good, the restaurant which is superb and food is magnificent, the pool sauna area is small but very nice.the spa treatments area were nice and comfortable. The service was okay apart from, having booked and paid for half board, we were then informed we were only entitled to an evening meal on the first night.
Ahh the room..I would describe our room as pokey and guest house like with a bathroom door 1 metre away from one side of the bed, which had a noisy extractor fan which took a while to shut down after turning light off, We could hear people walking outside our room the people in the room next door to us (and thier extractor fan) and people walking about in the room above.
The bed, a four poster, which was a major reason for us choosing this hotel and the hotel have gone the 'extra mile' to provide for its guests unfortunately the matress I would describe as stodgy and uncomfortable and the pillows cheap and flat these two put together was a not a recipe for sleep.
