been here before and yes run down hairs broken but managed to have one of the est laughs. stayed as a family of four and found the staff friendly and willing to help with us finding our way around. taking time out of their day to approach us and chat. enertainmemt from dean was great and such a lovely man dedicated to this hotel. despite some of the criticism of food poisoning we found the food good and the view from our 46 double room was amazing. such a great welcome and remembered us from the previous year. if youre going on a cheap visit to the spectacular island and willing for a laugh. go seagrove.. :) harriet jo john and ollie..soon to b islanders

I stayed from the 23rd april to the 27th april. It would be a nice hotel if it had a bit of lick of paint outside and the rooms could be a bit updated. The room that we stayed was a decant size room however the matteras needed chucking out and replaced with a new one and the carpet could do with replacing or evan got hoovered. The meals were average I think there should be more choice for vegitarians because it was always salad all the time. The staff in the dining room worked hard I think you should have 3 staff on and split the room to make it easier the staff at the bar was very nice. The entertainment was good. The hotel is in a great location. Apart from the niggly bits iv mentioned I did have a lovely holiday

I am pleased that we booked the holiday before we had read the reviews about the Seagrove Hotel. Otherwise we would never have booked and would have missed a good weekend. Having got a very good last-minute deal and having booked the holiday we decided that we would make the most of it and enjoy ourselves.

The feeder coach took a long torturous route from Rotherham, criss-crossing the M1 until we arrived at Hopwood Services 3 ½ hours later. There our Isle of Wight coach picked us up and took us quickly to the ferry, and then to our hotel.

Fair to say that on arrival, the hotel had no ‘curb appeal’. The manager (Dean) was waiting for us and he got onto the bus and told us where to go to get out keys, what time dinner was and where the bar was. Checking in was very efficient and wasted no time. When we got into the room we found the decoration very patched up and very tired. The curtains were clinging on for dear life on about three hangers per curtain. We then spent about 15 minutes nit-picking in the room and although the décor was poor, everything was clean and everything worked. We paid a deposit for the TV remote and that also worked. When we (carefully) opened the curtains we found that we had a most magnificent sea view which was lovely in the evening sunshine.

Dinner was adequate. We would have liked a wine list but quickly realised that there wouldn’t be one. The waitresses were rushed and served the food very efficiently. Breakfast was pre-ordered and was ready at 8.30am. A good breakfast again served very efficiently. Coffee was warm.

At 10.00am we were collected by our driver, Rob who entertained us with humorous commentaries and stories as he did the round-the-island tour. Adequate interesting stops throughout the tour and delivered back to our hotel in time to explore parts of Sandown before getting ready for dinner.

After dinner we went to the hotel bar. We had missed the entertainment and one of the guests had been taken ill and was being attended by the ambulance service. She was taken to hospital accompanied by her companion. The owners of the hotel offered to collect them from the hospital if they were discharged during the night. We found out the following morning that they had been discharged at 3.00am and the owners brought them back to the hotel.

The next day followed the same pattern; breakfast; coach trip to a wine tasting, Ryde and Godshill; dinner in the evening. This time we were early enough to be entertained by ‘Elvis’. I think that it was really Dean thinly disguised as Elvis. He was very good and afterwards told us that he did the Elvis show for the island donkey sanctuary. We checked it out later and found part of it on You Tube.

The final morning, following a very early breakfast, we got on to the coach to travel home. The first time we had done a coach holiday for many years. We are looking forward to the next one.

Booked with Travelstyle and read some of the reviews after, i only read a couple, i didn't want to read anymore because people had give the hotel such a bad reputation, so i didn't want the reviews to get worse, but i can honestly say from my experience i had a lovely time and don't have any complaints . . . Dean was brilliant ;) xx, so funny! Ok so it wasn't exactly Buckingham Palace and could do with redecorating and it is a bit of Fawlty Towers, but i think that made it more fun and more of and experience, i had a laugh with it, you just have to laugh about these things, the food was really nice and i have no complaints about that, if your looking for "Fine Decor" and "A La Carte" it's not going to be your cup of tea. To be completely honest i didn't want to leave and i can't wait to go back, i'm definately going back this year! :D

Room Tip: If you need a shower or bath ask before you book :). Or if you want a seaview room.

I read the reviews on here before going with Travelstyle for Easter and thought if the hotel was that bad they would close it down and 'you get what you pay for', Travelstyle please note, this hotel should not be used at any price, the four people in my party all came down with sickness and diarhoea on the journey back and the day after, the rooms were disgusting and the hotel is 'an accident waiting to happen' room 2 had no nets or curtains, they were on two old chairs along with the curtain rail, on ground floor so people could see in, newspaper was stuffed in holes in walls and skirting boards, the shower was mouldy and the doors loose, no hot water, uncomfortable dirty mattress's lumpy flat pillows, no change of towels in four days, the knobs on the drawers were even fixed inside the drawers. outdated telivision didn't work, lead to kettle wrapped around the door hinge. when we asked to change rooms we were told by the receptionist that they were full and why are we complaining because she looked at the room before we arrived and said it was beautiful!!!! this hotel should be closed down.

Room Tip: Choose a room in another hotel
