“Amazing stay!!!”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Well, we cannot speak more highly of our 4 night stay at Meadowcroft Farm over the August Bank holiday weekend. This is a very special find, with the most incredible views, very friendly people and the most delicious breakfasts. The whole barn was very stylishly furnished, 5 star in every way, a lot of space and attention to detail, For example, Steph had made up the beds for our 3 children with kids duvet covers, a little gift for them, bag of crisps on their pillow( encouraging midnight feasts!) and left some toys for them in their room. We went on a fantastic walk just around the farm in the woods, made friends with all the animals and it was a perfect place for us to stay whilst visiting relatives nearby in Bolton. We will be sure to return, thank you so much!! Lucy and family.

We travelled from Kent and arrived hot and tired on a Friday afternoon. In stunning countryside, just outside Bolton we easily found Meadowcroft Farm and were instantly delighted by it. The Barn, overlooking the stables and beautiful landscape has been tastefully converted into the most luxurious accommodation with 2 spacious bedrooms each with a beautiful bathrooms and a large comfortable living space with everything you could want and more. Steph and her family are the nicest people and made us so welcome and her delicious breakfast consisting of what ever you want, all fresh and locally sourced and the eggs, just laid, is a great start to the day. She welcomed us with muffins and cookies which, with tea and coffee revived us after our journey. We asked her to recommend somewhere to eat nearby and she booked us a local restaurant for supper where we returned for the subsequent evenings we were staying as the food was so good. There are fabulous walks from the Barn, through a little wooded glade, with a pretty river, waterfall, stone bridge (fairytale stuff to us southerners) which leads to the village. There we found 3 pubs, a butchers a tea room, an ice cream speciality shop in a traditionally stone-built village. Steph gave us directions to reach another village, passing the reservoir with lovely views and you could walk for as long or short a time rarely seeing another walker. The Lancashire countryside was very colourful and the people all so friendly; such a refreshing change from the rush of life. We would love to return for longer to explore the area. There is a lot a local history as well as the large cities nearby and Meadowcroft is the perfect base. Thank you Steph, you have created a gem.

I was travelling up to Bolton to watch the Ironman race, and knew that I needed to stay in a relaxing place. This is exactly what Meadowcroft Farm B&B was. From the moment we arrived down the cobbled drive way I noticed the beautiful stoned farm house and the iron Horse parts dotted about. I instantly felt like I was in a film. This was just too perfect to be true. As we parked up we were greeted by the B&B's owner / organiser, Steph. She was friendly, approachable and helped us into our little home for the weekend. She went out her way to make us feel at home and even taught me a few things on horses and the farm. The house over looked the beautiful stables and the breath taking views of the hilly fields, I was blown away. I was so sad when our time came to an end and we had to leave for home. I will of course be coming back again. I feel that we have made not only lovely holiday memories but have made friends with Steph and her beautiful family. I will be passing on this little gem of a B&B to my friends and family to go visit.

Room Tip: Both Rooms in the self catering house were beautiful. The downstairs room was a large kingsize bed w...

This B&B has everything and more and then some! The setting is just amazing with a beautiful (and peaceful) view and glimpses of the horses from their stables whilst you enjoy the scrumptious breakfast served by Steph. We stayed in the HayLoft which was complete luxury, huge comfy bed and gorgeous bathroom with the choice of a beautiful freestanding bath or waterfall shower. Steph had even left a bath bomb to enjoy. Steph was absolutely amazing. Her attention to detail in the property itself and her service was the best we have ever experienced. The breakfast makes my mouth water just thinking about it! Homemade blueberry muffins, fresh fruit salad, homemade bread with beautiful fresh that day bright yellow yoked eggs! On top of the luxurious bedroom and breakfast Steph welcomed us with homemade biscuits! Meadowcroft Farm is far more than a B&B. It was more like a home from home, but a far more luxurious home! We arrived back late from a wedding and were able to make a cup of tea in the fantastic kitchen area, enjoy one of those lovely biscuits before heading upstairs to be welcomed by a freshly tidied/spotlessly clean heavenly room! We felt like we were the ones on our honeymoon! This was the best place we have ever stayed and we felt truly spoilt and pampered and will most definitely be back! Thank you Steph for a truly wonderful stay.

From the minute we drove up to the B & B until the minute we left it was 5 stars all the way not just because of the facilities which were first class but more due to Stephanie's care and attention we felt like part of her family, nothing was too much trouble and her breakfasts were delicious, even going to the trouble of getting us eggs and bacon from the local butchers. Loved coming down in the morning and seeing the horses in the stables.
Although it is a rural property you are not far from places such as Bury, Bolton and Manchester very easy to get too, a must for us as we have family in all these places.
The views are stunning and it is a quiet location another must for us.
A trip down memory lane was going to Holden's ice creamery in the village a most for anyone staying here.
Any one considering staying in the district you wont be disappointed, I'm looking forward to booking my next trip and staying here.
Well done Steph and best of luck.

First impressions of the B&B were great; Steph made contact with us on our way up (even helpfully recommending places to eat nearby). When we arrived, she greeted us, gave us a tour, presented us with some homemade shortbread and left us to it! That set the standard for the rest of our weekend. Steph was consistently thoughtful, friendly and enthusiastic while remaining discrete and giving us our privacy. The views across the valley are stunning and being based in a stables, there are lush green paddocks right by the cottage to look out on.

We stayed in the hay loft, the room was fantastic with a lovely big bed. For those interested there was plenty of storage, big tv (great for Saturday morning lie ins) and a dressing table. The bathroom has a magnificent freestanding bath (Steph provided a scented bath bomb which was a nice touch), a large waterfall shower and all the usual facilities. There is a luxurious feel to the whole place.

After a good nights sleep, Steph made us our breakfast (at a time of our choosing, agreed the night before). On the first day this included fruit salad, yoghurt, homemade granola, toast (with homemade bread), fresh blueberry muffins, freshly squeezed orange juice and plenty of tea. On the sunday we were lucky enough to be treated to a full english breakfast on top of all the above (not advertised but may be possible, ask Steph!). Steph even remembered to put out a glass of water for my fiancee as she had requested one on the first day. The food was all - you've guessed it - sensational!

We got lucky during our stay and had the whole place to ourselves so were able to make use of the top notch kitchen for other meals. It is possible to rent the entire cottage (sleeps 4) and we're considering returning with friends to make the most of this. When compared to the price of a top central Manchester hotel, this place is great value and worth it for the personal touches that Steph provides alone.

We went away feeling refreshed and planning our next visit. Overall, could not recommend it highly enough! Ideal for romantic weekends away.

Room Tip: We slept in the Hay loft which had a big double bed, lovely ensuite, lots of space and light! Call a...

We stayed for the weekend and were amazed at the quality of the b&b. The room was fantastic, real luxury with all the facilities you could ask for. There is also a living area and kitchen so you can really make yourself at home. Each morning we had a beautiful continental breakfast and everything was homemade. Steph the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. We will return. Fantastic value for money.
