We've had a fairly relaxing week in the villa but managed loads of exercise in the evenings when we walked down to the village for dinner (and back)! The villa itself is well equipped and comfortable for two people so we had plenty of space. The front terrace is fine for two to sunbathe but would have been a tight fit for more, especially as there are only 3 sun loungers down here. There are a further 2 on the roof terrace so one could have been brought down if necessary but there isn't really enough space for 4 without removing the dining table and chairs.
The bed was comfortable and it's very quiet (and dark) with the shutters closed so a good night's sleep is easily achieved, especially with the very efficient and quiet air conditioning system in the bedroom.
We didn't cook in or bbq, preferring to go out to eat. At this time of year, there aren't too many options available but we managed to eat in most of the available restaurants - two of them twice (L'Escala and La Pepa). The walk into town is easy; coming back uphill is slightly more taxing! We like to walk, however, and the area felt safe and well lit with good roads and pavements so the 25 mins it took was fine for us.
We enjoyed the pool which was just warm enough to use. As it's cooler this week (we've moved further down the coast) I think it may be too cool. It was very clean and pleasant when we were there so it was used every day.
The kitchen is quite well equipped apart from a couple of things - some sharp knives would be useful as well as a chopping board. The fridge is modern and a good size and the dishwasher does what it says on the tin!
To summarise, we enjoyed our week in San Juan and accomplished our aim of not speaking English all week. Waiting and bar staff were happy to respond in Spanish when we spoke Spanish to them unlike in many more commercialised resorts where menus are brought in English and Spanish requests are replied to in English.
We're happy with our choice of villa and San Juan for the first week of our 3 week Spanish holiday this year. The villa was good value for money and we've managed to speak Spanish whenever we've been out. If renting this villa, you need to be prepare to drive out in the evening or walk for around 25 mins to get to restaurants. Suited us but maybe not for everyone.
We spent a lovely 2 week holiday in this villa. Clean, comfortable, relaxing and opening the patio doors every morning for a dip in the pool was heaven! My children were 6, 8 and 10 at the time and would thoroughly recommend.

We had a fantastic relaxing holiday in this lovely villa. Everything was there we needed, with the bonus of the pool! It was in a great location with a short walk to the beach & the locals were very friendly. Thoroughly recommend!
