Review of The Sidings

After our first visit, we decided to go back for dinner again! Once again we were really impressed with the quality, price and service. We got the steam train to Castletown using our Go Explore cards and had a few hours in the town before walking to The Sidings. They are still being refurbished but again no real disruption to the service. We had mains and desserts both delicious! Excellent prices, great selection of drinks and a fantastic atmosphere. Will continue to return when visiting the island.

We called in here having got the steam train from Port Erin (it's right next to the Castletown train stop!) We called in for a drink and sat in the beer garden. It's clear that the pub is being renovated at the moment but there's no customer disruption. We decided to grab a table inside to eat, we had no idea what to expect, possibly run of the mill pub food. We both ordered queenies to start with followed by the crab salad that was on the special board. The queenies were superb, quite a large portion for a starter, the crab salad was amazing! It was the entire crab presented in it's shell complete with fabulous crab claws. 10 out of 10 for using local produce, typical Manx grub at a great price! Will visit again.

Sidings has always been a great place to go for a beer. They have a handful of handpulls offering the locals beers and a extensive range of guest ales.

The beer is often well priced, the night of our visit the bar had love music on which made drinking the fine ales that bit better.
