“Lots of interactivity!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

A great museum to visit and highly recommended. There are lots of reconstructions and clips to watch and listen too. Even the smells are reconstructed like that in the kipper factory!
You could spend a good few hours here taking it all in and having a go at steering the ferry, interacting with the different set ups, and watching the videos.

This museum tells of the history of the Isle of Man going back to the Celtic and Viking times. It is very well told in a system of scenes and short films and tells you how life was back then for the inhabitants of the Island. There is also a full size Viking longboat. You can also help to steer a Steam Packet Company ship across the Irish sea and see how Kippers are smoked. This museum is pram and disabled friendly with lifts to all floors. It has a café and a well stocked gift shop and very friendly and helpful staff. It is overlooking the harbour and has great views from the "magic windows". Very enjoyable and well worth a visit especially if you like history.

“Heritsage Curator Tour”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Recently attended 'Living with the Wire in Peel during WWII' tour.
It was a walking tour from the Hse of Manannan to the relevant areas of Peel. The lady who led the tour was very knowledgeable. She not only provided facts, photographs, but also interesting anecdotes. However she did not recognise the age of the group or where she stood on occassions when speaking. Two hours of standing is a long time for any one, this wass not made easier by standing next to the sea, and a busy road meant very difficult to hear.
We were lucky that the weather remained dry. More could have been told on site with a shorter time spent outside standing in the cold trying to hear and not get run over.
Good idea, good topic - reasonable price - just a little more thought please

“Worth a visit”

Takes quite a lot of time to do it justice so if bits don't interest you skip on and spend more of your time on later bits.
