Andy and Pip couldn’t have been more helpful. They allowed us to leave our bags before we checked in as we arrived early. Also allowed us to leave our bags after we had checked out, toured the island and came back to collect them before we caught our evening flight. Pip even allowed us to while away a spare hour in the lounge – superb – try getting this at a chain hotel.

On arrival Pip explained everything about the hotel, provided us with maps, booklets and leaflets all without being asked to and without being pushy or overpowering – a welcome touch.

The service was excellent, we were shown to our room on arrival and our bags had even been taken up for us.

The room was clean and tidy, lovely new chunky furniture, large king size bed, superb bathroom, sofa and chair, digital TV with DVD player, tea and coffee making facilities etc…

Our room could have done with some double glazing. Not for noise reasons, but the condensation might prove to be a problem soon and the room did often feel a little damp.
Whilst the room was tidied after our first night, we did feel a few extra things could have been done: Empty the bathroom bin, tidy the towels onto the warming rail, remove the used shower gels and replace the bed sash. Small things but they do make the difference.

Breakfast was great, all the usual choices, along with Manx kippers (a personal favourite of mine). Very well presented, very tasty, piping hot and just what we asked for. On the second morning we asked for items not on the menu and all were delivered without fuss as we had asked – thank you.

This is a great hotel, well located, well priced and very well run. Downstairs is a lovely lounge and a great and well-priced bar (very well stocked Whisky section)

Room Tip: Inglewood are in the process of updating their rooms. Maybe ask for one that has recently been refur...

Pleasant greeting on arrival by the owners, excellent cleanliness and welcoming surroundings. Good selection available at breakfast and opportunity to have whatever you asked for. Rooms are spacious with great facilities. Nice to have a lounge and bar available - especially with the Whiskey menu. Would recommend this hotel and would stop again on our next visit to Douglas.

First impressions were positive as we received a warm welcome and our case was carried up to the room while we checked in.

The room was comfortable and spotless although on the fourth floor and at the back of the building - something that we knew and accepted when our booking was confirmed.

The breakfasts were good with a choice of continental or traditional cooked.

I don't suppose we will have reason to visit the island again but would recommend The Inglewood to anyone making the trip.

We stayed at the Inglewood hotel in July 2012 when my husband was running the Isle of Man marathon. The hotel is great, it's in a good location and has obviously been renovated in the last few years. The owners Pip and Andy, and their son William were wonderful hosts - we had our twin toddlers with us and they supplied two cots, two highchairs and Andy even managed to calm a breakfast toddler tantrum, fed one of the boys and kept them both entertained!

We stayed at the very top of the hotel (there aren't any lifts) but this didn't prove a problem, in fact it helped keep the boys occupied. The view from the room was great but if you have problems with stairs make sure you request a lower floor.

I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit the Isle of Man.

Room Tip: My friends stayed in room 15 which is a great sized room with a lovely view of the sea. I would rec...

I was a member of the Scot-Trek group which used the Inglewood as its base for a walking holiday on the Isle of Man in early August. It is a very well run family hotel and Pip and Andy are friendly and approachable hosts. Rooms are spacious and well furnished and the traditional and Manx kipper breakfasts are excellent. 'Good to have the local Bushy's beer available in the bar!

Room Tip: Sea views are always a joy!

Our first visit to the island for five years but not our first visit to Inglewood. Pip and Andy had not long taken over here when we first stayed with them. Their hospitality has remained constantly excellent. What they have done to upgrade the place is amazing. Even though it's impossible for all the rooms to have the wonderful sea views that the sea front rooms have, the comfort levels do not diminish. All are furnished in a modern but comfortable style, with en suite facilities, which they didn't have in the past.

There is a great variety of options available for breakfast. Cereal and fruit juice, tea, coffee or a selection of specialilty teas are available for all, then there are several other options to follow. I had the continental option on both days and my husband had the veggie cooked. Both were very tasty and filling.

Finally, if you're a whisky drinker, don't forget Andy's wonderful selection of single malts. A great way to round off the day, especially when watching Mo Farah win the 10,000 metres gold as we were doing!
