This hotel is a brilliant part of the Island’s history. Built in 1910 this incredible hotel still resembles the past, but is also embracing the future. This hotel has fantastic management and incredible cuisine too. It also has great functions at reasonable prices. Overall this is an iconic hotel on the Isle of Man and deserves all the praise above.

Spent five days here on an Eclipse Coach Tour found the hotel to be very good with a varied menu each evening. Rooms were clean and beds very comfortable, the hotel s ideally situated for a stroll along the prom and ten minutes from Ferry.

I like staying here as the hotel has real character. Perfectly placed at the quieter end of the promenade, it is a great location for a stroll to a great French Restaurant (L'experience) and the ever popular 'Queens Hotel' pub. The Hydro is a little bit hit and miss though.

The décor is slightly scuffed in parts- It must be a nightmare trying to keep up with all the paintwork which gets bashed about by the summer coach trippers. The hotel is very clean (I couldn't find fault), the bed comfortable, and the linen nice. But the toiletries and lavatory paper are poor quality. The room does have everything you need and there was plentiful hot water, a great powerful shower and a big enough telly.

Whilst we were here, the weather was shocking (wet and windy), but the room we had was tropical. It must vary around the hotel and by personal preference, but room 103 and the breakfast room were really too hot for me- probably because I am Manx and hardy!!

Every member of staff we encountered from check in to the Night Porter were professional, friendly and helpful.

Breakfast service was excellent- I ordered nice veggie sausages to go with the breakfast buffet- although it would have been nicer to have eggs cooked to order. The waitress was kind and nothing was too much trouble.

We booked directly with the hotel and had a winter room rate of £60 which I thought very good for the fab location. I will definitely be back.

Room tip: 103 is warm in the winter and has a bit of a sea view

Spent an enjoyable few days on IOM at Hydro Hotel. Clean comfortable hotel, excellent staff, good food and plenty of it. Bedroom adequate but lighting was poor. Sea view from side window was spectacular.
